High Speed Internet Suppliers in Boston: advice needed please!

I'm moving to from the UK to Boston (Massachusetts not Lincolnshire) shortly and the thing I'm most concerned about, of course, is getting a decent internet connection. I have a wonderul 24MB service here in London and I want as near to an equivalent as the general Boston metropolitan area offers. Download caps are no good to me, nor are crummy upload speeds.

Can anyone solve my conundrum or otherwise help me along my way? Your assistance is enormously appreciated, as ever.

i have no real knowledge here, but we rented an apartment for 6 weeks in cambridge ma, and had comcast's service. it was very fast for both upload and download, certainly much faster than my 8mps london service. no idea about caps, as we didn't see a bill. oh and slsk/bittorrent were fine.

who are you with in london?!

i'm with Be. I gather they're anew company and there were some teething troubles early on, but I've found it mostly reliable. I don't know how much it's possible to feel the benefit of 24 meg over the 16 that's becoming more available. And it's only 25 quid a month, too.

I can't believe you have a 24MB connection dude unless you have something other than DSL or Cable. try this

don't they have 50+ in Korea? Probably 100 now, for use with the PS3s they've already got.

thanks for the link.

I have Be here with a 24Mb connection, it's ADSL2+, Jon.

I forgot that DSL is only crap here. Anyway.

1 MB = 8 Mb

The best bit actually is the 1.3Mb upload speed.

Basically everyone I know in Boston uses Comcast. I think it runs about $50/month (cable TV may or may not be included). Sorry I don't have more info, I use my school's internet.

I'm switching from DSL to cable (5 Mb down, 3 Mb up) next month. Faster broadband + 185 channels (incl. all the premiums like HBO) for $70/month less than I'm paying for business line + DSL + DirecTV (with no premium channels).

I will commence to drop a knowledge bomb. (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 5 July 2006 19:18 (eighteen years ago) link

Funny how Ted Stevens net neutrality thing was all "INTERNET'D BE $60 A MONTH WITH REGULATION STEAD OF THIRTY"

No one gets $30 broadband.

I would go Comcast; Verizon DSL is sufficing for me but Comcast cable modem will likely be more what you want.

i will check that out, thank you.

I'll basically echo most of the comments and say Comcast is probably the fastest way to go for you.

Hope Boston treats you good!
