Whose Likeness Should We Stick on American Money?: AKA These Presidents Are Boring

It seems like other nations have much cooler people on their currencey than we do here in the states. Sure, we have Benjamin Franklin and Sacajawea on certain pieces and that's nice and everything. But it seems like there are dozens of other much more interesting Americans than guys like Alexander Hamilton throughout history who deserve to be commemorrated. Give me some guys like Duke Ellington or Gershwin or Lenny Bruce. Or just anybody who isn't Dwight Eisenhower.

It seems like Thomas Edison would be a good candidate for this kind of thing. Or, failing that, a clear-eyed dreamer the likes of Michael Bay.

Nominations please.

We should stick with exactly what we have (because you know damn well that if we don't everything will wind up with Reagan on it).

Is there still any of that talk going on about Reagan splitting the dime with FDR that conservatives vomited all over congress after he died? That was a pretty scary week.

yeah, obviously this sort of thing would probably take decades. especially considering how long it's taken them to revamp all the old bills (and they haven't even gotten to the $1 one yet).

and they haven't even gotten to the $1 one yet).

they're not going to. they reworked the old bills to thwart counterfitters, you can't bleach the singles to create bogus higher denomination bills, the portraits don't line up. the five is going to be the last bill reworked, with new color and other security measures.
