The thread for the seemingly random yahoo questions that pop into my gmail headlines:

the answer:
Dear Kellen:
Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia, we don't know. And, as far as we can tell, nobody else seems to know either. But that hasn't stopped folks from speculating on the deeper meaning of Queen's chart-topping hit.
A look at the lyrics provides a few clues. As the New York Times notes, many of the words are "fatalistic." Lines like "I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all," "nothing really matters," and "too late, my time has come," imply the song's author and composer, Freddie Mercury, was dealing with inner demons.
Despite the band's strict policy of not revealing the song's meaning, British DJ and entertainer Kenny Everett claimed to have heard an explanation from Mr. Mercury himself. According to this article from Blender Magazine, Everett claims Mercury told him the song's lyrics were just "random, rhyming nonsense."
Seeing as Mr. Mercury passed away in 1991 and the surviving band members aren't talking, it seems we'll never know for sure. If we had to hazard a guess, though, we'd say the song is a type of fantasy written by a complex person and, like the best kinds of art, not intended to make perfect sense.

Dear Yahoo!:
Is Mike D. of the Beastie Boys really related to Dustin Diamond from "Saved by the Bell"?
Concerned Fan
Dear Concerned Fan:
Forget spontaneous human combustion -- no urban legend has caused Gen Xers more distress than the rumor involving rapper Mike D. sharing DNA with Screech from "Saved by the Bell." It's enough to make us fight for the right to stick our heads in the sand. But the truth must be known. And here it is...
To all Beastie Boy fans out there, we're happy to report that Mike D. (Michael Diamond) is in no way related to Screech (Dustin Diamond). Furthermore, Dustin is not a relative of iconic crooner Neil Diamond either. Whew! Not that we advocate guilt by association, but since Screech is arguably the single geekiest character in sitcom history, having the man who brought him to life as a relative would certainly knock some gloss from these singers' reps. That said, it's a testament to Dustin that his character remains so memorable. And despite all the groaners that passed for jokes, "Saved by the Bell" retains a cult following. A search on "Saved by the Bell trivia" brings up a disturbing number of sites.
So, mystery solved. But as to whether Jaleel White (Steve Urkel) is related to Jack White (The White Stripes) -- no comment
Way to save Screech's rep yo. Anyone ever come across the Dustin Diamond hate site where someone with brittle bone disease kept sending in email thinking it was 1st a Dustin fan site, then Dustin's pertsonal site? That was just weird...

Dear Yahoo!:
What exactly is a booger?
Ima Snotball
Boston, Massachusetts---
Dear Ima:
You've asked a rather unpleasant question, but it's one we're happy to answer.
As you're no doubt aware, boogers are those squishy things in your nostrils that appear during interviews and dates. They're not pretty, but as we learned from this site on kids' health, they are necessary.
Boogers "happen" when your nasal mucus combines with dirt and debris you breathe during the day. Mucus (aka "snot") prevents the dirt from reaching your lungs. Without it, infections would be far more common.
So, long and disgusting story short, the mucus eventually dries around the dirt and debris and -- voil! -- a beautiful new booger is formed. Consider this the ideal time to bust out the hankie, tissue, or sleeve, then blow.
