Suing can be seen as a re-channeling of aggression, part of the social contract. Instead of beating each other up, disputes are settled through litigation or (increasingly these days) either binding arbitration or mediation.

Oh crap, I was being hetero-centric by accident again. Same rules apply. I hate hearing about some guy getting really cocky outside a club instigating as much as the next guy and then getting dropped and then pressing charges and then suing for dental costs. If you can't throw down, why even front?
