It's not often I laugh at others' misfortune but he deserves it.

hahahahaha unlucky.

I've been busy doing a film called 'Color Me Kubrick', where I play a gay entertainer called Lee Pratt, alongside the brilliant Hollywood actor John Malkovich. I think it will be out in the new year. Wait till you see it, its hysterical.

I did not feel this was value for money and have taken a few days to think about what to say to you rather than fire an email off the cuff the next day.

beanz (beanz), Thursday, 6 July 2006 14:04 (seventeen years ago) link

"Davidson, who lives in Dubai, said he wanted to finish paying off the bill, now down to about £700,000, but had been "forced into this position". "

I did actually read this as 'forced into prostitution' at first.

Dubai is the new Sodom and Gomorrah; discuss.

That news has actually brightened my entire day. As far as I can see the man has no redeeming features.

ps I'd like to add my apologies to not-goodwin's; neither of us have that much of a recollection of Friday (His appears so bad that he doesn't know what day it was) and I suspect that if I got that drunk I might have been really bad...

Stone Monkey (Stone Monkey), Thursday, 6 July 2006 14:19 (seventeen years ago) link

jim davidson is a right wing clown

"In 2004, Davidson, a self-professed Conservative, (not BNP as many assume) publicly left the United Kingdom for Dubai in protest of the Labour Party government."

According to this...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0376543/board/nest/45961689
...the character Davidson plays is based on Joe Longthorne.

A Longthorne/Malkovitch connection - who'd a thought it?

Ned T.Rifle (nedtrifle), Thursday, 6 July 2006 14:26 (seventeen years ago) link

"He has also for the first time in 14years in 2006, refused to play Great Yarmouth, stating that the resort was: full of overweight people in flip-flops and fat children of all colours and no class"

beanz (beanz), Thursday, 6 July 2006 14:28 (seventeen years ago) link

Redeeming feature - The Devil Went Down To Walthamstow.

OK, I give in.

Sorry I know this isn't on topic but I just want to point out that Malkovich says the accent he'll be adopting for his characterization of the Kubrick impersonator's characterization of Kubrick is "a little bit Yiddish, a little bit Croydon, a little bit Copenhagen, and a little bit Seoul."

Ned T.Rifle (nedtrifle), Friday, 7 July 2006 06:08 (seventeen years ago) link

I am looking forward to this film.

Sounds to me like Jim D isn't broke, just caliming to be "bankrupt" in an attempt to pull the wool over the mythical taxman's eyes. Something like that anyway. I'm not sure I understand bankruptcy laws.

Dubai must be really really horrible.

Wasn't JD's dad from Glasgow?

It all seems a bit dubious.

Have four years really gone by since the BBC terminated his contract to do 1975 Rod Stewart impressions and comedically jump into Melanie Stace's arms on the Generation Game?

Why would I feel better if it had been, say, Ben Elton, or Justin Lee Collins, going bust?

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 7 July 2006 06:37 (seventeen years ago) link

Ben Elton's imaginary bankruptcy is the sort of glorious hazy dream that almost makes life worth living.

Toad Roundgrin (noodle vague), Friday, 7 July 2006 06:58 (seventeen years ago) link

I see tonight BBC1 offers Celebrity Showjumping.
You look at the people on there and the programme has "COUNTY COURT JUDGEMENT" written all over it.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 7 July 2006 07:19 (seventeen years ago) link

looking forward to the film? it's been and gone, check that imdb link.

pisces (piscesx), Friday, 7 July 2006 08:21 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh dear. I have made a fool of myself. On a Jim Davidson thread.

I will get it on video, or watch it on Film Four.

Man, you really freaked me out here for a minute. As it happens, I got paid this morning.

JimD (JimD), Friday, 7 July 2006 09:18 (seventeen years ago) link

It is sad that Mr Davidson may henceforth be confined to a parlous existence in an isolated cottage with dodgy television reception, as per the late Rod "Rod Hull and Emu" Hull.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 7 July 2006 09:19 (seventeen years ago) link

Some cruel people may well be hoping he too has occasion to go up on the roof to adjust his aerial

I've just remembered Jonathan Ross' comment to RH at the British Comedy Awards about some clock in New York "that hadn't worked since 1985 either."

Can't wait to see him go to the wall...
