Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 04:19 (nineteen years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 04:20 (nineteen years ago)

man we're bored.

the speech they're using is on the tip of my tongue. gettysburg? maybe too long.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 04:20 (nineteen years ago)

3rd try: 107 w/ 1 mistake. Ok, I am bored.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 04:22 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's Gettysburg.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 04:22 (nineteen years ago)

yeh def. gettysburg. needs to be more random to be a better test. but thanks, gbx!

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 04:25 (nineteen years ago)

i bet if i clipped my fingernails i could do better.

gbx (skowly), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 04:26 (nineteen years ago)

hahaha mine are totally due for clipping. also i'm reclining. at work i could smoke this. will try in 10 hours or so.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 04:27 (nineteen years ago)

nicky lo-fi (nicky lo-fi), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 04:40 (nineteen years ago)

I tested myself a few times and generally wound up with about 90 with two or three errors.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 04:43 (nineteen years ago)

137.97 w/ 3 mistakes.

Andrew (enneff), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 04:45 (nineteen years ago)

That was my second try. My first try I didn't make any mistakes but I couldn't see the answer because I accidentally hit space when the message box appeared.

Andrew (enneff), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 04:47 (nineteen years ago)

103wpm, 4 errors
106wpm, 2 errors

I typed a space after a few perfect and faster takes which meant the pop-up disappeared before I could read it, grr! Why would space register as "OK"?

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 04:51 (nineteen years ago)

xpost!

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 04:51 (nineteen years ago)

Also this seems like too short a sample -- my actual speed is more like 80wpm (with lots of errors).

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 04:52 (nineteen years ago)

God knows how inhumanly fast we would be without that cursed space bar issue!

Andrew (enneff), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 04:52 (nineteen years ago)

95ish with 2 mistakes, but I dont touch type properly, so I make mistakes a lot.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 04:57 (nineteen years ago)

87 no mistakes. I don't like the mental only one space after the full stop thing though.

miele kitty (miele), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 05:03 (nineteen years ago)

Typewriters are, like, so last century. Get over it.

Andrew (enneff), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 05:08 (nineteen years ago)

ILX types well.

So would the board be better or worse off if it were less so?

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 05:08 (nineteen years ago)

73.09 with 3 error.

(there's your answer)

tremendoid (tremendoid), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 05:12 (nineteen years ago)

haha make that 4 errors

tremendoid (tremendoid), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 05:12 (nineteen years ago)

94.15 with 1 mistake

Bobby Ganush (Uri Frendimein), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 05:23 (nineteen years ago)

first try: I finished and immediately hit return, so I never saw the results

second try: it told me I had an error and I stared at the screen till I realized I had an extra space so I went and read some other threads

third try: 108.5, Zero mistakes

fourth try: 83.19, four mistakes

time for bed

SQUARECOATS (plsmith), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 16:16 (nineteen years ago)

116.2 (2 mistakes)
115.7 (1 mistake)

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 16:18 (nineteen years ago)

I think it's wrong to call them "mistakes", I say it's creative typing - thinking outside the box, not just doing what the man tells ya to do.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 16:18 (nineteen years ago)

80.27 wpm
377.84 cpm w/o mistakes

Maria :D (Maria D.), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 16:24 (nineteen years ago)

97 wpm, 4 mistakes.

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 16:29 (nineteen years ago)

yeah i wasn't aware that only 1 space is required until last year.
i took typing back in middle school. on typewriters. white out tape yeah!!

tehresa, who will here remain anonymous (tehresa), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 16:33 (nineteen years ago)

I never typed school work 'til I was 19.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 16:37 (nineteen years ago)

I WILL NEVER REVERT TO YOUR PAGAN ONE SPACES.

We had to take a test on word processing, databases, etc. to pass 8th grade when I was in middle school. On DOS. In the late 90s.

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 17:32 (nineteen years ago)

PAGAN ONE SPACES? THIS AGAIN? Two spaces after a period is heretical. One space, typography as if set by angels.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 18:12 (nineteen years ago)

TWO SPACES IS CIVILIZED, YOU HEATHEN SAVAGE. I will die a pauper before I accept your barbarism! Avast ye!

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 18:32 (nineteen years ago)

116 with no mistakes, on my lap. Madchen got 101 with one mistake on her lap.

stet (stet), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 18:47 (nineteen years ago)

116 with no mistakes here too. the sample is too small for real testing and there are other problems with it too, as these things go.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 18:51 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, I got over 100 each time I tried. This seems a bit wack, as my average proper timed-over-three-minutes test like you do at temping agencies is in the region of about 70.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 18:59 (nineteen years ago)

'Twas an avid typest gbx
Who typed fast regardless of text
He threw down his glove
Said, "Type away, love -
My skills will leave you hot and vexed."

gear (gear), Wednesday, 12 July 2006 19:09 (nineteen years ago)

There is nothing civilized about two spaces after a period, unless you're typing on an old manual typewriter:
