"Cockfighter", "Incubus", "Branded to Kill", "Aguirre the Wrath of God", "Race with the Devil", or "The Exterminating Angel". There.

Menelaus Darcy, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

CUBE IS THE WORST FILM EVER EVER EVER!!

get Eraserhead or The Wizard of Oz.

Wyndham Earl, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

bring it on.

chris, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Grosse Point Blank. Wit, violence and a pleasingly cheesy 80's soundtrack.

Wilfred the Beagle, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Better Off Dead

Nicole, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Now *there's* your eighties classic.

Ed Wood.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"When We Were Kings," the documentary about the Muhammad Ali-George Foreman fight. Even people who hate boxing and think they're going to hate the movie (e.g. me) love it.

Douglas, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Legally Blonde".

Dan Perry, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Shanghai Noon!

jel, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

mallrats.

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

tricky to help with question when 'i want something good' is the only direction. 'Good' in the sense of funny, entertaining, uncomplicated, moving, though-provoking, visually stunning, mindlessly pleasing pap or what else in particular? Gore and thrills? Intricate sub-plots to have you oohing and aahing long after the credits? Dodgy plot but good vehicle for the talents of A. N. As-Yet-Unspecified?

Most things with John Cusack are very good in one way or another, except America's Sweethearts which had me leaving the cinema in a state of shock that he had compromised his good name so thoughtlessly. Julai Roberts attacking cooked breakfast should not be the comedic highlight of any movie. I am too scared to watch Serendipidty for the same reason, although admittedly JR and hash brownies may not be featured.

Wilfred the Beagle, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i very much enjoyed 'water drops on burning rocks'. it features a mixed gender/age foursome and an ensemble disco scene... and a lot of wallpaper.

petite verte, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

'Waiting For Guffman'

Nancy Drew, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Hana Bei" aka "Fireworks" is unbelievably good.

dan, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

jurassic park or crimes & misdemeanors.

ethan, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

REANIMATOR!!

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

'Waiting For Guffman' . NO. What do people get out of this shit? I mean, the "'Remains of the Day' lunchbox" bit is funny, but everything else sucks, sucks, sucks. Well, I guess this is Christopher Guest, so sucking may be the point.

Rent Fantastic Planet and watch it high like J-Lo in "The Cell" (which is way better than many people say it is).

Dan I., Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Amores Perros

Michael Bourke, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the remains of the lunchbox was the only unfunny part of waiting for guffman, it was like a snl joke or something.

ethan, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Gattaca.

kevin enas, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

remains of the day lunchbox, rather. but yes rent waiting for guffman, it's fantastic (best in show is good as well but too broad and punchline-y).

ethan, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Splendor in the Grass

girls don't compose, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Gale Deslongchamps, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

haven't we done the necrophilia thing already?

electric sound of jim, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

No, that would be Weekend in Bernie's

Ned Raggett, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i ended up watching midnight cowboy.

anthony, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Grosse Point Blank and Better Off Dead: both awesome. I just saw One Crazy Summer for the first time two weeks ago. I like movies where the good guys do things to the bad guys before the bad guys even do anything bad.

Vinnie, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Wait four days, then you can rent Ghost World.

Justyn Dillingham, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hanle y, the Wrath of God.

Seriously ... Pootie Tang!

Tadeusz Suchodolski, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)
