I put on my uniform, it was three sizes too small. I said dear dear teacher, "I've been six years away. I ain't finished my essay, cos rock'n'roll rules OK". My conclusion this summer was there was much too much rain. So I ran off on Thursday with the dance troupe from Spain, where wine, dance and music are the name of the game. From Bilbao to Madrid my mind ain't been the same. The rehearsals went easy, and I learnt all the moves. I was playing a tree trunk in a forest of fools. Now Maria moved real good, and I could if I would. But when your mind's your prison, things just don't seem so good. Then we'll be married, then we'll be happy.

That's Gorkys "Spanish dance troupe". I love that song.

Michael Bourke, Thursday, 31 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes, it's probably the best song ever written.

It reminds me of Adam and Joes 'What Do You Do' song!

What do you do when you get up in the morning, get up out of bed, wash your face and head! Urrr blah blah can't remember the rest! Mang I must TRANSCRIBE it tonight - ah the joys of being too poor to go to the pub (not that I was planning to go anyway oh well).

Remember when Euros and John were on Vinyl Justice? That was brilliant. They had Neil Hannon too, innit? I don't remember that one, I hoped they had a FITE with him.

Sarah, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Neil Hannon was on UK Play's 'For Your Ears Only' show a few weeks ago, where celebrities make a compilation tape for someone of their choice and talk about their choices. He was very dull indeed, displaying little sign that he had any interesting tastes or opinions at all. The tape was for his wife and he controversially ribbed her about her taste for the Wonderstuff ho ho ho. He didn't actually make the tape at all - it was just a programme conceit. But the previous episode had seen Adam Buxton actually go to the trouble of making the full CD-R with packaging for his mate Louis Theroux. He was quite geeky funny about it all and put on a Gorky's track so that's the connection.

I saw those two programmes over Christmas too. However I missed the start of the Adam Buxton one and was intrigued to know whether that was his front room or not.Cos, if it was, boy was his stereo cool.

You're forgetting the Mark E Smith episode, Starry - where he beat them up. Edgy telly, that.

all of us in our flat have been trying to learn the lyrics for "B.O.B." by Outkast. but it is too hard. though i do know most of the ones to Xplosion which is my favourite song from Stankonia anyway. i am also the only member of tompaulin who knows all our lyrics, or so it seems sometimes. singers, bah - they'd be nothing without me to remind them WHAT IT IS THEY HAVE TO SING.

katie, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

He did explain where it was at the start Jonnie but I've forgotten what he said. I think it was his flat, yes. V. cool whopping great stack of studio equipement, yes. I liked the sound of soulboy Joe's collection.
