Is it me or is this guy's honor really, really cheap?

Jesus Dan (Dan Perry), Thursday, 3 August 2006 12:19 (nineteen years ago)

Clearly, he is a tightwad and therefore knows how to pinch each penny until it screams. When you have that going for you, what else do you need?

Sara R-C (Sara R-C), Thursday, 3 August 2006 12:38 (nineteen years ago)

It'll be even funnier when the military tribunal gets done with him.

"You've ruined the army's reputation, we demand $75,000!"

StanM (StanM), Thursday, 3 August 2006 12:42 (nineteen years ago)

You can't ruin the army's reputation any more than you can ruin diseased manure. and AFAIK the only reputation Marines have is for getting killed even more often than the army. Speaking as an AF vet, of course.

How come so many perfectly nice people go over there and die or get maimed while this witless tumor is alive and well, is what I want to know.

Irony lives! Every day in every way...

"Who is Donald Rumsfeld, Alex."

TOMBOT (TOMBOT), Thursday, 3 August 2006 13:01 (nineteen years ago)

I forget where I read it (it may have very well been ILX) but someone compared this to that time Oscar Wilde sued that lady for defamation for saying he was gay.

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Thursday, 3 August 2006 13:02 (nineteen years ago)

That was me. And the Marquess was male.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 3 August 2006 13:03 (nineteen years ago)

shouldn't he be a Marquis then? Or is that just France? UGH IF ONLY THE WORLDWIDE PROLETARIAT REVOLUTION WOULD OCCUR I WOULDN'T HAVE TO KNOW THESE THINGS.

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Thursday, 3 August 2006 13:04 (nineteen years ago)

Also you were very OTM.

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Thursday, 3 August 2006 13:05 (nineteen years ago)

$75,000 is the minimum amount in controversy needed to sue someone from another state in federal court (where the only reason allowing you to use the federal court is the fact that you're from different states). he's asking for at least the minimum amount so the case doesn't get thrown out of court on jurisdictional grounds. it does seem to illustrate, though, that this 'suit' is a (swift-boat-loser-run) media strategy.

"Who is Donald Rumsfeld, Alex."

Speaking of...

Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld has reversed a decision to skip a public hearing on Capitol Hill and said he will testify Thursday at a session on the Iraq war.

The move came after hours of criticism and pressure from Senate Democrats who urged him to come before the Senate Armed Services Committee to answer questions about the administration's Iraq policies.

Rumsfeld had said earlier Wednesday that his crowded calendar did not allow him to be present for the meeting Thursday morning, but he agreed to attend a private, classified briefing in the afternoon with the entire Senate.

Speaking to Pentagon reporters earlier Wednesday, Rumsfeld suggested that complaints about his decision could be politically motivated.

The Pentagon provided no reason for the change. The committee said the Pentagon called and said the secretary would be testifying.

Someone should ask him about this.

this guy is getting backed by the swift boat fucks, isn't he?

kingfish cyclopean ice cream (kingfish 2.0), Thursday, 3 August 2006 13:26 (nineteen years ago)

That actually makes this make more sense, gabbneb! Thanks.

Jesus Dan (Dan Perry), Thursday, 3 August 2006 13:26 (nineteen years ago)

(ie, it's not about the money, it's about the apology, and the money is only there to keep the suit alive, which makes this wrong-ass suit follow at least some semblance of logical follow-through on expressed principles)
