Happy birthday aimurchie! May the least ill-fitting suit be yours from this day forward.

Oh, good God, how did I miss this thread?
Thank you very much, Maria and Jaq.
It was an ok day. Lot's of phone calls. Lunch with my bro. Champagne.
And Sandi bought me a pair of paisley plastic cowboy boots when she visited, so I did a lot of "Project Runway" model walks to show off the boots.
Are you "Lordy Lordy Look Who's Forty" this year, Maria?
I think more people should wish me a happy birthday, now that I'm here to receive such wishes.
Oh, the power has been out, intermittently, for a few days, so I couldn't troll and scroll.
It was sort of nice to be without power. But I must clean the fridge...yucky.
I got the Gnarls Barkley CD from Kevin - awesome, totally awesome, and a Lost book. "Getting Lost", which is a bunch of people writing about "Lost". Pop culture enthusiasts. Smart people with WAY too much time on their hands. Kinda like ILX.
Anyway, it is so not my birthday anymore.
But I'm still in a recieving mood.

I think I'm just going to contribute to this thread on my own. because everything has been weird for days.
The power going out is...a little bit weird. It's not that the grid got overwhelmed (although that's the cause of the intermittent outages.) The big one, four plus hours, was caused by a...squirrel.
So here's the story, about how weird things have been.
During the power outage, the downstairs neighbor got eaten by his 12 foot long albino python. Luckily, he screamed loud enough for the next door neighbors to hear, and they were able to pull him out of the snake.
I heard "Pull on his fucking tail!", and decided this was much more interesting than the book I'm reading.
So, Malachy, the python, had Chris, the neighbor, all the way to the top of his arm.
See, the power was out. So there was noone to call - even if he had been able to reach a telephone.
The arm is, well, very bruised, but surprisingly not broken.
I guess pythons twist their prey while consuming them, but in this case, due to the force of Chris's gravitational pull toward the earth he didn't want to leave, Malachy wasn't able to...consume him. And didn't snap the bone.
But Python's have teeth, so it was a bit bloody. Chomp.
I mean, really. "How was your day?"
"Before or after my neighbor was eaten by his snake?"

So, a squirrel manages to cut power to half of the town, and a snake tries to eat its owner. Go for it, animal/reptile dudes!
They've certainly made my life more interesting.

And THEN, I went out to a restaraunt, and...more crazy things happened.Around me. I seem to be attracting drama. Which is weird, because i usually like to create it.

My neighbor got eaten by his snake! No, it's true!

Wow - happy birthday (belatedly). I hope your power becomes steadier and the pets surrounding you injure no one else. (Great story, however!)

Happy birthday! And... blimey!

Thank you Sara. Mutual of Omaha's Wild kingdom - Easthampton version, has been mellow, sort of, since the swalloning of the neighbor thing.I saw the slightly swallowed neighbor today, and he's fine...the arm is not looking so good. but, of course, he blames himself and is going to get some rats so Malachy can learn all about food choices.
This is very comforting to me. Not.
He also has two boa constrictors, a parrot, five cats, a son, three geckos, a lizard, and his mother. In a two bedroom apartment.
Oh, and a Jack Russell terrier named Lacy Jean.
I can't make this stuff up.
He was breeding rats in the basement for awhile, but I just couldn't deal with it.
Feed your snakes, but please don't introduce rats into the apartment building.
That's pretty reasonable, I think.

Well, at least I get to say that I helped pull a person out of a python's jaw! Now THAT'S a pretty special experience!
i will try to post some pics of the python..but I'm sort of a failure at posting pics.

Thank you beanz! Blimey indeed!

Wow. That menagerie in your apartment building sounds pretty... exciting.

Sara R-C (Sara R-C), Sunday, 6 August 2006 16:44 (eighteen years ago)

I haven't told you about the raccoon yet.
I'll figure out how to post pictures so everyone can share in the reality that has been left to my descriptive skills.
The raccoon...
Rocky.
Kinda lives on my porch.
