a college buddy had a famliy that bred basset hounds - we got to keep the runt of the litter for a couple months, but he was "mildly retarded" and prone to seizures. He peed in one of our roommate's beds. Also we got him high one time and he proceeded to hump the couch. also he couldn't run very fast (or very far) cuz he would trip on his ears. good times.

My basset artesien. She's about 13 yrs old. Our other basset, Basiel, died a few yrs ago. I still miss him even though he gave me a very tiny scar (on the lip).

my ex and I used to go to this gigantic dog park every friday nite when i lived in phoenix. there was a local bassett hound rescue that would bring all the dogs they were fostering at the time every friday nite. likewise, several people who adopted bassetts from the rescue would come at this same time, making it a weekly reunion/ bassett fest. it ran the whole gamut from bassett puppies to 14 year old blind/ deaf ones.

seeing ONE bassett hound in its element is hilarious. seeing thirty all together is something i will still be remembering on my death bed.

My doggy is half-Basset, half-Pitbull. He doesn't have the floppenears, but he has the ridiculous fat feets. Fat feet! Fat feet! And the long body & white tipped tail and neck flop.

A great thing about bassets is their proclivity to get all fat!

Milo, our dogs refused to go out for a walk. At the dog training school they said to drag'em no matter what. Basiel's toes bled and he rolled around as we dragged him. They said that we had to otherwise he would win. Hardest thing to do but after a week he finally gave in. hahah

I live w/in bike distance of the OHS, so I biked up to wander around today. Wound up taking him out for a walk thru the reclaimed nature trail thing they have in the back acre. He's half-basset, half-german shepherd. Had german shepherd torso and tail, but with floppy ears, stumpy legs, and basset paddlefeets.

And coming up in mid-july, the 2008 Basset Games, held in a park about 1/2 an hour south of here.

Actually, Abbott, we don't have that couch any more because Chloe ate a giant hole in it. We have a similar couch that's a bit bigger now from Ikea, and Chloe has been gnawing at the armrests. I've tried the bitter apple spray and some other stop-chewing stuff, but she LICKS IT OFF and goes to work.
