Raw Patrick (Raw Patrick), Sunday, 6 August 2006 20:40 (nineteen years ago)

are we discussing the game?

if so, CLASSIC!

Slumpman (Slump Man), Sunday, 6 August 2006 20:47 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, of course, but they only let you shoot one load at a time -- THE SWINES!

_chrissie (chrissie1068), Sunday, 6 August 2006 20:50 (nineteen years ago)

you can get a fast shoot variation for MAME!

Raw Patrick (Raw Patrick), Sunday, 6 August 2006 21:25 (nineteen years ago)

Utterly classic and still superior to the gimmicky Galaga

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Monday, 7 August 2006 00:35 (nineteen years ago)

I think the fast shoot variation would make it too easy. Mind you, this is speaking as someone who finds it tricky to get to Level 2.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Monday, 7 August 2006 06:37 (nineteen years ago)

it's fun, but come on... better than galaga? nothing is.

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Monday, 7 August 2006 06:55 (nineteen years ago)

The fast shoot variation is much easier but once you've played it it is impossibly frustrating to go back to the slow shoot version.

Raw Patrick (Raw Patrick), Monday, 7 August 2006 08:16 (nineteen years ago)

fortunate hazel OTMFM. galaga uber alles.

GOD PUNCH TO HAWKWIND (yournullfame), Monday, 7 August 2006 09:54 (nineteen years ago)

Galaga is a superior game but Galaxians is still classic, and has better sound. I used to walk home from school via the local community centre so I could play Galaxians.

The Galaxians/Galaga pack was the first game I bought for my Gameboy.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Monday, 7 August 2006 10:01 (nineteen years ago)

Very very classic. They used to have it as a table-arcade in the Factory in Leicester, and I frittered away many hours boozing and playing (I think it was called the Factory, I may be totally wrong here, if zappi turns up on this thread he can correct me).

emil.y (emil.y), Monday, 7 August 2006 10:30 (nineteen years ago)

Galaxian is classic no doubt but God Punch & Fortunate Hazel both otm...Galaga is the perfect realization of the Space Invaders genre

Thomas Tallis (Tommy), Monday, 7 August 2006 10:53 (nineteen years ago)

I love Galaga 88 as well.

Raw Patrick (Raw Patrick), Monday, 7 August 2006 11:05 (nineteen years ago)

yeh emil.y queen of space, i think it was called the Factory. it was owned by the drummer of Judas Priest, who was later convicted for molesting a handicapped teenager who he was giving drum lessons to :((((
(what a way to bring everyone down, huh?)

anyway Galaxians great, Galaga with "steal my spaceship but i shall get it back and DOUBLE MY FIREPOWER BWAH HAHA!" even more fun.

zappi (joni), Monday, 7 August 2006 11:14 (nineteen years ago)

My head's got the kill-red-kill-red-kill-yellow-800-point-bonus noise stuck in it.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Monday, 7 August 2006 11:20 (nineteen years ago)

I have spent the night playing the series. Gaplus is better than I remember. In fact, they're all great.

Raw Patrick (Raw Patrick), Monday, 7 August 2006 19:52 (nineteen years ago)

ooh, i need to play some galaga 88. gaplus was so damn hard! if i drop a quarter into galaga i know i'll be entertained all the way through the opening bands.

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Monday, 7 August 2006 23:20 (nineteen years ago)

galaxians < galaga < GYRUSS

JimD (JimD), Tuesday, 8 August 2006 01:09 (nineteen years ago)

How the heck did I miss this thread. Galaxians still remains as one of my all time favourite shooters. The graphics on the aliens are great, they look so evil.

Galaga 88 was the only version of said game that I liked though.
