milky booze

Spin off from the girly booze thread.

Is milky booze a good thing? Baileys and it's Aldi haunting initators I found nauseous, sickly nasty yuck. ALso, I don't like their adverts, the idea that evaporated milk laced with ethanol is analagous to a toe tingling orgasm.

However, milk is the bestest way to hide the taste of shit whisky for a nice comforting swig. What do you say? Dr Feelgood or Dr Feelsick?

misterjones, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I used to like Baileys until drinking it as a chaser for pints of Kronenburg. I really bad idea.

White Russians however are ace.

Anna, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Bailey chaser - you are one sick puppy Fielding.

White Russians are the key missing element to the story told a few eeks ago re: the last time I took time off work. They didn't make me ill (since I am unbreakable) but thinks ended up in a bad way. I blame The Big Lebowski.

Pete, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

White Russians Lebowski style are the Best, but I mostly drink beer now because I black out too much otherwise.

Hank, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Bailey's makes Christmas bearable.

David Inglesfield, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm veggie and avoid a lot of animal products, so I don't like milk much ... but I'd say that milky booze drinks are great -- but only if you're having one or two. It's like splurging on a tasty yuppie mocha drink, a nice treat. but if you're going for some serious drinking, bad idea.

Dare, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Choco-Mint Mudslides are of the gods.

Brian MacDonald, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Toasted Almond = yuck.

rosemary, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes I agree, mudslides are the way to go, especially if you're making them yourself, because you get to add the aforementioned mint-chocolate chip, or a little Kahlua, or more vodka, or some Frangelico if yer wants to get kerrr-azee.. Freezer capacity is a natural and necessary limiter to this dangerous addiction.

Tracer Hand, Saturday, 2 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

brandy and milk is v. good .

anthony, Saturday, 2 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Brandy Alexander. Mmmmmmm.

I have already introduced a large percentage of the ILE massive to the joys of the White Russian Milkshake. Huge swig of vodka. Huge swig of Kahlua. Added to this, in a blender, a whole pint of Haagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream. Blend and pour. It's the nicest drink in the WHOLE world.

suzy, Saturday, 2 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

make those swigs pints and you're there

balileys vile and not at all milky. White russians are fantastic with milk or thick double cream floated on top for a creamy moustache.

Ed, Saturday, 2 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I hate the taste of beer, straight or soda-pop-mixed hard liquor, everything, so milky licks is my number one preference. I can't tell the difference between any of them but I'm pretty sure I like China Whites... I'm such a bitch. Kahlua's great too and I think I'm going to try Suzy's recipe tomorrow.

The following should probably go in one of those brainy-white-guys- bugging-out-over-the-color-of-hoes-they-fuck threads but since we're talking shop, anyone notice something special about the video for Ja Rule's LIVING IT UP? I mean, in the daytime at the mansion, it's 100% soul sistas grinding it up in the backyard, but when night falls, Ja and the boys are at that club with 100% bleachies! What gives? What's he trying to say?

Ramosi does definitely bring a new perspective to life here.

Has anyone ever tried a grasshopper? It's Vodka with a grasshopper mix and milk.

Gale Deslongchamps, Sunday, 3 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Gale that sounds disgusting! Baileys is, however, wuvly. Why is Mackeson's milk stout so called when it has no milk in it? Oh dear that reminds me of a joke Mark Radcliffe made once.........

MarkH, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Has anyone had that Toffee Liquer? God knows what it's name is but it keeps getting advertised on ladies loos in central London also in wee- smelling London Underground passages.

Sarah, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Liquor? Liquer? Liqeur? BOOZE!

Sarah, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I've had a grasshoper Gail. It tasted quite nice, buut I had to fight to overcome the fact it was green.

Anna, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hi Anna, They are pretty smoooooth :)

Gale Deslongchamps, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What are the ingredients of 'grasshopper mix'? It sounds like cheating to me in cocktail terms.

Emma, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The mix comes in a box/packet ( Like the strawberry Dqs) Mixed with vodka & milk

Gale Deslongchamps, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

creme de menthe, creme de cacao and cream I think

Anna, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Shouldn't green drinks be de rigeur now we are in the 21st century?

Jonnie, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Top Milky Drink = Orgasm. Baileys, Amaretto and milk. Yum.

Top Green Drink = Midori. Midori and lemonade tastes like Mr Men Lollies.

Ally C recommends Midori and Irn Bru for Top Poo-Brown Drink.

Madchen, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Menthe, CACKao & Creme indeed. This slowly takes me back to last years Eurovision party where we ran out of mixers at about 10 and therefore used other alcohol as mixers. Okay in Manhattans & Martini's but there are only so many of those you can drink before moving on to more outre things like Raspberry Snowballs (like a normal snowball but with the lemonade replaced by Raspberry Vodka).

Num num.

Pete, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The 'Tom Ewing' cocktail made at that Eurovision party was green and very nice. The recipe has I fear been lost.

Nothing good will come of milky booze, at least not in the Ewing family. Proofs = my Baileys-fuelled entanglement w/T*nya, Doctor Groove's 'millennium cocktail'.

Tom, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Madchen!

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 5 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

mmmmm, whiskey and hot milk, nice.

chris, Tuesday, 5 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Why is Mackeson's milk stout so called when it has no milk in it?

Don't know, but my grandmother always kept a dozen or so cans of the stuff in her 'drinks cabinet'. It was probably one of the first alcoholic drinks I tried.

David Inglesfield, Tuesday, 5 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

one month passes...
Whimpy Grasshoppers in these Parts.

2 recipes:

Locust Style: 2 shots Vodka, (french Blue) 1 shot Creme De Menthe, 1 shot Creme De Cocoa. Shake, and Serve over Ice in a chilled glass

Chinese Grasshopper: (Legend of Kung Fu) This drink will make your eyes squint. 3 shots Vodka (clear), 2 shots Creme De Menthe, 2 shots Creme De Cocoa, 1/2 pint heavy creme. Blend in Blender with Chopped ice. Serve in Large chilled glass. DANGEROUS

Nusskern, Sunday, 17 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i like pina coladas a lot, but i prefer them with coconut cream instead of cream.

di, Sunday, 17 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Do you like pina colonics, and getting caught in the rain ... passing out in the ocean...
