My choices:
Withnail & I - journey to Penrith, and to the tune of Hendrix.
Point Break - a glorious ozzie beach, and a landrover.

The opening fight scene in Hero! Probably the best of the movie.

the doaple gonger (nickalicious), Wednesday, 9 August 2006 14:52 (nineteen years ago)

Oh and the Neo/Agent Smith battle in Matrix 3. In fact, lots of great fight scenes are in the rain...huh.

"The Illustrated Man"

Beat me to the punch, I love that segment! I can't see fungus on a tree or read about fungus without thinking of the guy whose suit tears.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

the doaple gonger (nickalicious), Wednesday, 9 August 2006 17:38 (nineteen years ago)

Is it too vague to just say the name of the film? With Crouching Tiger..., I didn't want to drop a spoiler.

Also, I was going to try to find a still from LA Story where Steve Martin is looking up at the road sign, but a GIS for "LA Story" turned out very unpleasantly (thank you goatse man for existing).

Garden State. Zach Braff & Natalie Portman's pash in the rain shits on that Spiderman one.

Hard like armour (Hard like armour), Thursday, 10 August 2006 00:53 (nineteen years ago)

OTM, the scene leading up to their snog is perfect, just perfect, with the yelling into the bottomless pit and the other dude looking on slightly embarrassed. Saw that on my 18th birthday, can't think of many better films I could have seen.

Oldboy has a rainy scene at the very start, and is in unrelated news the best film of the past five years.

Louis Jagger (Haberdager), Thursday, 10 August 2006 00:57 (nineteen years ago)

Christ I hate Garden State.

Princess Mononoke

kephm (kephm), Thursday, 10 August 2006 01:32 (nineteen years ago)

xpost I would much rather have seen Garden State for my 18th birthday, than the execrable Green Card with vapid Andie McDowell and ugly Frenchie Depardieu. That's 103 minutes of my life I will never regain. It didn't even have any rain in it.

Hard like armour (Hard like armour), Thursday, 10 August 2006 01:34 (nineteen years ago)

Rain

kephm (kephm), Thursday, 10 August 2006 01:35 (nineteen years ago)

But I would much rather see Spider-Man than either of them. By a long way.

xpost.

Oo, another film with rain in I hated even more than Garden State: Closer.

chap who would dare to start Raaatpackin (chap), Thursday, 10 August 2006 01:48 (nineteen years ago)

Closer was disappointing, mainly due to Roberts & Law. Portman was the standout there. Can't recall if it had any rain in it.

Forces of Nature - the rainy wedding scene at the end.

Hard like armour (Hard like armour), Thursday, 10 August 2006 04:19 (nineteen years ago)

The Road to Perdition is not a great movie, but it does have some excellent rain in it. The sound effects in particular make it very dramatic.

The Truman Show. It's like a rain-scene-within-a-rain-scene.

not strickly rain but the scene in Alien where Harry Dean Stantons character is standing under all the dripping water, I like the noise it makes hitting his hat.

Spader chuckling - heh heh

Ned T.Rifle (nedtrifle), Thursday, 10 August 2006 12:40 (nineteen years ago)

one year passes...

nice board :o)
I would add:
- Wonder boys, the scene with M.Douglas and McDormand under the umbrella or the scene with Douglas on pink dress under the porch.
- In the mood for love, the scene where Cheung meets Leung at the beginning of the restaurant downstairs.
- Dumb and dumber, when Dumb and Dumber go in scooter to Aspen under the rain and the snow
