I think, judging from that other thread, that the people who have been here from the beginning are more content to let go, since they may feel like they've gotten what they want out of the site and it's not as good as it once was and they're embarrassed at how much of their life they've spent on it. The newer posters may not have become as jaded yet.

On some level I find it kind of odd that the "let it go" folks were all veterens--you would think it would be really easy for people who had not been around for a long time to let it go as well, no? Not as many strong relationships/memories and whatnot. Not really arguing about anything, just making an observation.

Well, it's not as if people who remember Mirsky's Worst Of the Web, NCSA Mosaic, and making online purchases from CDNOW would find the WWW of today that much different in quality of content, given time to ~~get spoiled by~~ adapt to faster internet.
