The look on the repairman's face is priceless.

James Lileks! I totally love that guy. (the writer of that peice, not the pervy artist) Pee your pants funny. No fooling.

piece. ahem.

classic pin up artists like george petty (i believe that's who this painting is from) were always doing this. Apparently elastic didn't exist then. Yeah the repairman is frightening.

Lileks is indeed ace and I had forgotten all about his site. Thank you for reminding me. Link to the home page

Tom of Finland did this kind of stuff better -- and there was rarely any underwear to worry about. Plenty of leather, yes.

I really like this kind of stuff from the 50s- it doesn't seem like bad art to me, although I can see why people might think it is. There's something incredibly... other-wordly, I guess, about it. And I don't just mean another world where knicker elastic is constantly failing.

My best friend bought me this amazing ashtray for a house-warming present, of a small girl with her pants being pulled down by a monkey on a trike. Mmmm.

Filthy Lucre is the best. "My collar is made from the leathery wings of giant bats. Worship me!"
