Ending up having sex with your friend because neither of you managed to pick up anyone at the bar: classic or sad?

...assuming you've had sex before, and it doesn't really affect your friendship.

outlogged (outlogged), Sunday, 13 August 2006 06:56 (nineteen years ago)

as long as you don't wake up together, classic.

nicky lo-fi (nicky lo-fi), Sunday, 13 August 2006 07:20 (nineteen years ago)

i've only done that twice and it fucked the friendship both times. maybe it's different for you.

gem (trisk), Sunday, 13 August 2006 07:34 (nineteen years ago)

remember the assumption is you've had sex before, and it didn't affect the friendship.

I'm also assuming some drinking had been done at the bar.

nicky lo-fi (nicky lo-fi), Sunday, 13 August 2006 07:38 (nineteen years ago)

xpost surely fucking the friendship is what you're doing by definition

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 13 August 2006 08:56 (nineteen years ago)

No, this isn't about fucking the friendship, I already said that. I was just wondering whether it's kinda sad to end up there, or whether it's an acceptable substitute. (I guess friend sex is kinda easier and safer than doing it with a stranger.)

outlogged (outlogged), Sunday, 13 August 2006 11:28 (nineteen years ago)

If you like this friend of yours so much, why don't you start being in a relationship with them?

DV (dirtyvicar), Sunday, 13 August 2006 11:32 (nineteen years ago)

why is it sad?

-- (688), Sunday, 13 August 2006 11:32 (nineteen years ago)

sounds kind of classic to me. kind of very classic.

GOD PUNCH TO HAWKWIND (yournullfame), Sunday, 13 August 2006 11:52 (nineteen years ago)

there is no correct answer here since the actual question is "are both of you perfectly ok with it, or does one of you (do both of you) feel like it's a sad thing to do" and I think you've sorta already got your answer there

Thomas Tallis (Tommy), Sunday, 13 August 2006 12:18 (nineteen years ago)

classically lazy!

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 13 August 2006 12:19 (nineteen years ago)

I think we're both perfectly ok with it, but it can still be kinda sad. Like spending the Friday night home with your flatmate, watching the Country Music Awards and eating ice cream, even though both of you wanted to go out, but in the end you were just too lazy to go through the effort. It can be fun and satisfying, but it isn't what you were aiming for.

(Then again, people often do this anyway, right? I guess there's nothing wrong with being too lazy to aim higher, as long as you're not always like that.)

they obv think it's classic and i have to support their judgment respectfully and prayerfully.

a name means a lot just by itself (lfam), Sunday, 13 August 2006 13:34 (nineteen years ago)

Shouldn't there be something akin to the incest taboo between friends? I mean, we can't just fuck anybody. Next it'll be the family dog, for chrissakes!

Beth Parker (Beth Parker), Sunday, 13 August 2006 13:54 (nineteen years ago)

why are people still having sex?

Sir Dr. Rev. PappaWheelie Jr. II of The Third Kind (PappaWheelie 2), Sunday, 13 August 2006 14:00 (nineteen years ago)

what about having sex while watching the country music awards and eating ice cream?

rrrobyn monsters with heat fever+stroke (rrrobyn), Sunday, 13 August 2006 14:08 (nineteen years ago)

ok, its a deal

-- (688), Sunday, 13 August 2006 14:13 (nineteen years ago)

never done it but sounds classic to me. i second DV's question tho.

Ste (Fuzzy), Sunday, 13 August 2006 14:13 (nineteen years ago)

Well, I think both of us prefer to be friends instead of having a relationship. It wouldn't work.

outlogged (outlogged), Sunday, 13 August 2006 14:38 (nineteen years ago)

Any kind of sex would be classic for me right now, it's been over a year.

outlogged (outlogged), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 03:29 (nineteen years ago)

wtf is that? srsly.

jhoshea (scoopsnoodle), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 03:57 (nineteen years ago)

I don't know what I was thinking? Being "friends" with someoneone is the most holiest of holies, and sleeping with someone is a despicable selfish act, akin to attempted murder. I must remember to cherish the friends, like over coffee, or the telephone, or the internet (without ever touching them, of course)

nicky lo-fi (nicky lo-fi), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 04:27 (nineteen years ago)

good to see you've come to your senses

electric sound of jim [and why not] (electricsound), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 04:28 (nineteen years ago)

I must say that there's only this one friend I could ever do it with without thinking of any repercussions. And it's not likely to happen again soon. But it's nice for once in a while to take sex as a bit of fun between sensible adults, nothing more (or less).

outlogged (outlogged), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 05:42 (nineteen years ago)

Can be very enjoyable, but as in most things that are enjoyable, it's probably wrong.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 14:15 (nineteen years ago)

This is classic provided both of you can keep your emotional distance. The fact you're starting a thread on this suggest this either isn't the case, or you're showing off/giving yourself a pat on the back.

It isn't lazy or sad. Friend sex > stranger sex.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 14:16 (nineteen years ago)

I'm always surprised and impressed when it seems to work out well.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 14:19 (nineteen years ago)

I'm perplexed. I can't imagine any friends of mine that wouldn't be totally and completely freaked out by the idea.

Never mind the fact that pretty much any of my friends who I would actually agree to have theoretical friendsex with, already have girlfriends.

Negative Spaceman (kate), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 14:20 (nineteen years ago)

Obviously, it helps if you've already had sex before, and talked about the whole thing, and laughed at it. But as said, not a lot of people can take sex this lightly, with most of my friends I wouldn't even dream of doing it. Plus, obviously I don't even want to have sex with 99% of my friends.

outlogged (outlogged), Thursday, 17 August 2006 05:45 (nineteen years ago)

The thought of shagging 80% of my male friends makes me either want to laugh or be sick. Theres a reason theyre good friends! I see them as bros! You dont fuck yr brother, ew.

Mind you, there's always the remaining one or 2...but, I am not single, so I dont go there. Not anymore.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 17 August 2006 11:44 (nineteen years ago)

I assumed this thread was about two guys going out on the pull and failing to pick up any women and so having sex with each other instead - was I wrong?

then something happened. he pretended it never happened. maybe i pushed him.

five years later i wrote him, after tracking him down thru his parents (HE WAS MY FRIEND).

he told me how fantastic his life was.

mine wasn't.

But you only made love to one of us
Oh Jim, how could you treat me this way?

Ever since you went away
When you're looking through the eyes of hate
Oh, oh, oh, oh
