i was a huge spirit fan as a kid. had all the strip reprints, all the kitchen sink editions, all the warren books, etc. but even as a little kid i knew ebony was wrong. i couldn't help loving it anyway. i was a sucker for the look and the epic artwork. anyway, no ebony in the movie apparently. interesting conversation here:

there is probably a thread. i'm too sleepy to look. is it just gonna be sin city lite? it'll probably suck.

I'd be interested in a Spirit movie if it was done by anyone else than Frank Miller.

there was a thread on ilc; i have to sorta echo tuomas on this - nearly anyone i can think of would be a better choice.

Also, I'd say formally Spirit is the most difficult Eisner comic to adapt - his graphic novels would make much better movie material, though I guess Spirit is still his best-known work. I just read Life on Another Planet, which was great, I'd love to see someone like Solondz or Jonze adapt that one.

yeah, miller is totally wrong for this. what's next, todd mcfarlane adapting carl barks?

Is Spirit really that known outside comic book fandom? I guess this is just a personal project for Miller, I doubt there were several other directors competing to do a Spirit movie.
