Garage Sale Day!

I got a push mower for ten bucks, and two used tires for another ten, a locally made wool jacket for five and a salmon colored retro 50s radio for seven, but that was last week. Didn't get to a sale today.

Had to prevent myself from stopping by them this weekend, as I was broke and even looking is enticement to danger.

Still, my yard sale lava lamp collection remains at two, and this is unacceptable.

Someone please take the giant stuffed giraffe that lives in my house. I hate that thing.

Last time I had a garage sale, it was in front of my apartment building in a relatively yuppied-out area of town. A man was walking by with his kids and one of them said, "Daddy, look at all that garbage." That was an ill omen.

The main people who came by were people who read myspace bulletins I'd posted about it, who picked up most of the choice items such as an espresso machine, lamps, old VHSs of seasons of South Park (actually, I was surprised they sold), some records and a coat. Nothing else got picked up.

I think, in part, its because we had a pile of '70s Playboys for sale, which I actually thought would get scooped up quick, but to the contrary I think they scared a number of passersby away.

That sort of reminds me of a story about when my dad took me to the doctor when I was an infant and I saw another (ugly) baby sitting across the way and I shouted "look daddy, PIGGY!".

Turns out my friend is having her garage sale this weekend, so i'll probably stop by and watch it for a bit, before falling asleep on the garage-sale-porch-chair, her pug asleep atop me and drooling.

Someone saw our ad and is offering to buy ALL of our books, sight unseen, for 25 cents each. I say yes.

They were going to be a dollar each and go to goodwill if not sold. Everything worth anything I've already sold on Amazon Marketplace.

Dudes, this is going well. We've had people buying stuff up already because of our CL ad and the sale hasn't even started yet!

Two dudes come over last night to pick up a bookshelf and one of them was SO high he couldn't really talk. The back of the shelving fell out while they were lifting it into their truck so I gave them half their money back. Berkeley.
