S: Late Night Poker (obviously)
In Bed With MeDinner (thank Christ for UKNova torrents of this)

D: Dare to Believe (just fuck off)
US sitcoms that Channel 4 picked up for transmission before they debuted in the States. Said sitcom then gets cancelled after four episodes so Channel 4 just shoves those on at 4:45 on a Saturday morning and hope nobody notice. That one about the internet start up, that one about the dog walkers, that one about the gay dude and his Italian flatmate. Rubbish.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 21 August 2006 10:15 (nineteen years ago)

I see that "Everyone loves Raymond" has been repositioned back to early morning, after the big primetime launch last year.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 21 August 2006 10:19 (nineteen years ago)

S: South Park repeats on C4. Obviously.
S: Channel Five's live NHL.
D: most BBC 3

Scourage (Haberdager), Monday, 21 August 2006 10:20 (nineteen years ago)

S: the mint, and all its derivatives, especially the one on C5 with the fucking ridiculous lateral-thinking puzzles.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 21 August 2006 10:24 (nineteen years ago)

D: Tales of the Unexpected reruns. Forget the bad acting, the low budgets, the dated fashions; the stories themselves are just utterly lame and hardly ever contain anything remotely unexpected.

ledge (ledge), Monday, 21 August 2006 10:32 (nineteen years ago)

S: porn on sky movies 4.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 21 August 2006 11:39 (nineteen years ago)

Sharia TV

Konal Doddz (blueski), Monday, 21 August 2006 11:40 (nineteen years ago)

Tonight on BBC 1, more religious programming for delirious night owls:

02:20 The Miracles of Jesus
For centuries the Christian church has taught that the miracles were signs that Jesus was God's only son. Rageh Omaar tries to find out whether this is just wishful thinking.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Monday, 21 August 2006 11:42 (nineteen years ago)

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

Earwig oh! (Mark C), Monday, 21 August 2006 11:42 (nineteen years ago)

Barely past midnight but Kirsty Wark and Simon Davis's 'Tales From' show on BBC2 is quite good. Previously Paris, this week they're in Vienna.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Monday, 21 August 2006 11:43 (nineteen years ago)

other possibles tonight:

C4, 03:40
Artshock What Price Art? By Tracey Emin

five, 00:10
Going Down in The Valley
Stars and directors of the pornographic film industry in Los Angeles' San Antonio valley offer tips and secrets on performing sex in front of the camera

Konal Doddz (blueski), Monday, 21 August 2006 11:45 (nineteen years ago)

1. remove lens cap

Konal Doddz (blueski), Monday, 21 August 2006 11:46 (nineteen years ago)

They really have some unusual (but innovative!) ways to protect their actresses off-scene, don't they, Konal?

Scourage (Haberdager), Monday, 21 August 2006 11:53 (nineteen years ago)

S: Dr 90210
80s and 70s teen movies

D: informercials
any shopping channel homewares or 'beauty' show
whose line is it anyway (UK or US) DIE

sunny successor (katharine), Monday, 21 August 2006 11:58 (nineteen years ago)

D: All these fucking rip-off call-in game shows that litter late night Australian TV (and caused Nine to take off Letterman in the process)

Domenico Buttez (ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!!), Monday, 21 August 2006 13:12 (nineteen years ago)

S: movies you've always meant to watch sometime but would never rent (and OTM on old teen movies!)

D: movies with long, quiet starting sequences after 2 am. well if you're going to put me to sleep anyway i'll just go to bed! also, anything other than movies is dud.

Maria (Maria), Monday, 21 August 2006 13:24 (nineteen years ago)

What's up with Quebec and all the late night nonstop phone sex ads?

Danny Aioli (Rock Hardy), Monday, 21 August 2006 13:27 (nineteen years ago)

Ooh, Quebec and the late night soft porn--such a shock to my tender teenage American sensibilities!

One of those call in quiz shows is on the Game Show Network, but it's only fun when Mel is hosting. It's such a crap job. Watching her try to sustain enthusiasm talking to drunken lonelies all night is fascinating, though.

patita (patita), Monday, 21 August 2006 15:18 (nineteen years ago)

S: Zone Horror
D: The Mint and all the other Non-QuizMania derivaties that don't feature Debbie King.

steal compass, drive north, disappear (tissp), Monday, 21 August 2006 15:20 (nineteen years ago)

> S: the mint, and all its derivatives, especially the one on C5 with the fucking ridiculous lateral-thinking puzzles.

b-but Brian from Big Brother...

their math's questions always include a clause with the numbers spelled out and another where there are missing brackets, just to confuse things. people phone in with guesses ranging from 1 to several thousand. and they never give the answers. is very annoying.

Stars and directors of the pornographic film industry in Los Angeles' San Antonio valley offer tips and secrets on performing sex in front of the camera

That's the San Fernando valley, bitches!

And the long gone Nite Flight on USA cable. If I'd known it would go away, I'd have taped them.

nickn (nickn), Monday, 21 August 2006 19:17 (nineteen years ago)

The 'Tales From Vienna' thing was okay. They talked to Hermann Nitsch but the presenter was distinctly unimpressed by his art. Richard Dorfmeister is so nice but dull.

And the long gone Nite Flight on USA cable. If I'd known it would go away, I'd have taped them.

Some DVD transfers.

Danny Aioli (Rock Hardy), Tuesday, 22 August 2006 12:03 (nineteen years ago)

From Australian post-midnight tv:

S: Letterman at 4am

D: Night Court
Wings

sunny successor (katharine), Tuesday, 22 August 2006 12:05 (nineteen years ago)

i did enjoy those 10 minute music video / animation things that they used to show at 3am on itv, Mixmasters. did tend to be run of the mill trance artists but occasionally you'd get someone good or an interesting video technique.

Koogy Yonderboy (koogs), Tuesday, 22 August 2006 12:14 (nineteen years ago)

I miss the 4 Later continuity skits with those CGI robots and that weird couple. Misplaced nostalgia probably, and I've definitely mentioned this on ILE before...

Konal Doddz (blueski), Tuesday, 22 August 2006 12:16 (nineteen years ago)

C: Dopesheet, trashy American/Colombian soap operas where everyone gets amnesia and tries to kill each other during sex

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Tuesday, 22 August 2006 16:01 (nineteen years ago)

And the long gone Nite Flight on USA cable. If I'd known it would go away, I'd have taped them.
Some DVD transfers.

Wow. If I didn't already have a huge backlog of "stuff I bought that I really should actually watch" I'd probably go for that.
