This is one of my pet hates. Oh GOD! I remember first witnessing this as a 13-yr old kid, a little embarassed to be dragged by my parents to see my sister be in a musical at school (I was 13, so seeing a musical with your parents was enough to be chastised for a couple of days by your "mates"). But yeh, there was one girl who obviously thought she was the best person in the whole play and she made this absolutely clear by staring at the audience, head cocked to one side and singing with this kind of gaping face to show she was REALLY into it. Since then I just can't stand it when people do this - to show they're really concerned or really interested in what you're saying. It's just gormless and patronising, yuck!!
