So, there's a barber college down the street from work, and the newsstand guy accross the street from it says that they do a good job. And the price is $5.50.

I am going. But, before I go, does anyone have anything to impart to me as to wisdom/advice/warning?

I mean, I'm at a Stage 2 pompadour right now, so I needs some help.

I went once. The student did a really good job, and it only cost $4.95. The only drawback was that it took two hours, since before/after every cut, she had to consult with the professor and receive feedback.

Also, the students don't have much experience, so you really have to know what sort of haircut you want and be able to describe it in detail to the student and instructor.

They do ok by me, but really all I want is for them to mow my head.

My ex went to one twice. The first time was fine, but the second time the guy cut completely through part of his earlobe, then said "That always happens when I use these 6" shears". This was 20 years ago, I'm sure things are different now.

I dated a girl who went to one that feeds into the high-dollar salons, so I got in the habit of going there, it was relatively high-class - appointments required, $15/cut, etc..

I don't know if I'd trust a barbers' college for $5 unless I was getting my head shaved.
