I signed up but it won't let me in. It gives me two options - one, that I have got there the wrong way (which, being through their front page, I doubt) or two, that a firewall is blocking it (which I'm fairly sure it isn't, as I can get to every other bloody page on the internet). Gah.

Haha I woke up and I had left the pc on. So I checked my page and 2 people had picked a fight with my hobo but mine won and I got $300!
Unfortunately I gambled it all away in the slot machines in the casino.

You just wander around picking up food and cans, begging, beat up hobos for cash,buy weapons or protection. Theres cart races starting when you get to level 15 I think. Theres a casino, you can go to the arcade and play pacman or other such games.
Theres other things once you get past other high levels. I'm sure theres lots to it.

Taking ages to train. Won a few fights with it and it also bites any hobos who attack you in a fight. Once its trained enough I can enter the arena and bet on it in fights.

Theres a 2nd game. Hobo Wars 2
So you can sign up for that too and play there starting afresh.

You are free to play on both versions if you like.

The added advantage is that points can can be sold for more money at the SHGM and though you start from scratch you can gain stats quicker and stuff.
It also means while you're waiting for 1 game to play you can do the other one.
You can't transfer stats or money etc over though.

Define 'entertaining'... A good way of passing the time occasionally at the office? Yes. World of Warcraft levels of fun and things? No.

Basically you sit in front of a screen levelling up buildings, building troops and attacking (or being attacked) by your neighbours. The bigger you are the more involved you get but you care more when you're small and love each of your villages like the little scamps that they are. Not really, it's absorbing enough for a few minutes a day and it does provide a bit of randomness at one's desk.

PS. I have never played WoW but it looks more interesting
