personally, all that aubergine was boring the hell out of me. poor tim didnt have much to comment on. the only dresses i really liked were edie falco's and, my favorite, helen mirran's (!!) white dress. oh and someone from the office crew was wearing a nice silver number too.

I saw about 20 minutes and between Jimmy Fallon hosting and Wanda Sykes making a joke about having black president and carrying a watermellon over the shoulder I agree

I'd still rather Palin/Beck people were wiped off the map.

The best thing about the emmys are the pressed Sherlock fans on tumblr who write about running out of the room screaming and crying because it didn't win any awards.

Cool to see Jury Duty make the lineup, but it's insane to me the The Other Two and Somebody Somewhere got one nomination total between then, and Ted Lasso (which is not a comedy) got 21 for a season everyone thought sucked

I don't think it's fair to expect Emmy voters to watch more than two shows, they have busy lives

lol, was just gonna post that list of the only two dramatic shows that feature any supporting actors. Who knew?

Kinda stunned that pretty much all of the nominations I would've selected from shows that I've seen are present and accounted for (although I would've given Shrinking a best comedy series nod and maybe toss Harrison Ford a bone, as well).

I doubt many people agree with me that Big Mouth is the best thing on TV/streaming right now, but the 88th season of The Simpsons getting a nomination instead of it just proves that the Emmys give as much care to their Animation categories as the Oscars do.

It feels increasingly clear that the more content there is, the more voters are just going to go all-in on three or four shows. I think at this point The White Lotus has 17 acting nominations ... from a grand total of two seasons.

Definitely glad they passed on Ford and instead nominated Williams and Segal (who I normally can't stand but is indeed quite good in Shrinking).

Lead actress in a comedy is definitely the acting category that has very little to do with my take on quality (Brunson aside):

Agreed Big Mouth is better than both the latest season of The Simpsons (yawn) and also better than Bob’s Burgers (which I like and am glad for it, but).

That said, my big complaint with the Emmys is the boring inertia of the nominations. Once a show is nominated, it likely will be nominated every season hence (see: Mrs Maisel, Ted Lasso, Elizabeth Moss for Handmaid’s Tale…). So in that regard I’m shocked Big Mouth wasn’t nominated because it has been for most of its other seasons!

Not sure if this is the right thread but I couldn't find it elsewhere and wow this sounds insane - you can't be nominated as team member for a Sports Emmy for a program if you're already nominated for your specific role, so ESPN were making up Bobson Dugnutt names for the team (as 'Associate producer') and getting them re-engraved for the talent.

I saw that the Halloween ep of Simpsons beat the Christmas ep of Bob’s Burgers for the win and got a little too annoyed by that result

Some satisfying wins so far tonight: Trammell Tillman, Britt Lower, Hannah Einbinder, Katherine LaNasa, Jeff Hiller...

...and then Alan Cumming. so much fabulousness.

Very happy to see Jeff Hiller get the award for Somebody Somewhere, and happy that Andor got best writing - I was certain they’d get blanked.

It happened a week ago, but Pee-Wee won best doc series, best director for Matt Wolf and best editing, very very happy about that; also a posthumous for Paul Reubens for exec. producing it

overjoyed for Andor <3

V pleased for Trammell. His role in Severance was just so unique and perfect.
