I am in Edinburgh for a wedding on Sat 9th, but can come through to Glasgow for a quick drink after you lot have finished working on the Friday (or while you're still working, probably, in the case of grimly and stet). I say quick, because how long I stay out for depends on whether I can persuade Frances to drive or not (or get my brother to come and pick me up since my ma moved to the middle of nowhere).

BAGSY NOT MONO.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 28 August 2006 09:37 (nineteen years ago)

I am working that night, but should be free about ten. How about mono?

stet (stet), Monday, 28 August 2006 10:45 (nineteen years ago)

i will almost certainly be on the beautiful isle of arran with mrs fiendish and her dad. sorry, dude.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 28 August 2006 10:51 (nineteen years ago)

Friday lunchtime drinking also available for consideration, for people who don't mind working pissed.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 28 August 2006 10:59 (nineteen years ago)

I am probably available unless Mrs O can't hold the baby in.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 28 August 2006 11:17 (nineteen years ago)

Yo. I finish work at three, so can do early doors pubbage. Alpen Lodge?

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 28 August 2006 18:10 (nineteen years ago)

I am roffling at this thread title! Why didn't I think of this when I was single?

Young Fresh Danny D (Dan Perry), Monday, 28 August 2006 18:38 (nineteen years ago)

Sounds like a plan. Alpen Lodge at 3ish, suits you for your works do, Onimo if Anne hasn't expunged the third from her womb, stet if he hasn't started work, and anybody else who likes small boozers on Hope Street. (NB we are not amongst the top ten google hits for Alpen Lodge, this must change) xpost to ailsa and the other glasgow kiddies

Dan, it wouldn't have worked. Trust me.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 28 August 2006 21:56 (nineteen years ago)

One of the town's longest established mixed bars, The Alpen Lodge, is the subject of a very strong rumour that gays are no longer welcome. It is claimed that GLASGOW AIDS WELFARE FUND were stopped from collecting via raffles as the new management team were unhappy about AIDS being mentioned whilst collecting amongst the mixed company. A future fund raising event in the Alpen Lodge by the welfare fund has been cancelled.
PULSE spoke to one of the businesses partners Mr John Branney who denied the rumours and stated that " Gay people will always be welcome as long as they behave themselves". From what PULSE has seen, it is not the gay customers the Alpen needs to look to.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 28 August 2006 22:11 (nineteen years ago)

Oh aye, that's why ILX is against the Alpen Lodge. I HAD FORGOTTED.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 28 August 2006 22:29 (nineteen years ago)

See? Good old Mono

stet (stet), Monday, 28 August 2006 23:08 (nineteen years ago)

that's not even funny. Rhoderick Dhu then?

I've never actually seen anyone in the Alpen Lodge, every time I go in it tends to be just me and the people I am with.

I seem to have my weekends confused. My works do is *this* Friday, which is when I thought Aldo was here, but I am stupid, it seems. (this may explain to Onimo what I was gibbering on about when I was on about Aldo being up this week, when he very obviously isn't)

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 29 August 2006 07:22 (nineteen years ago)

I'm free on the 8th - finish at about five - so I could probably manage to drag myself along to a pub after work, I expect.

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 29 August 2006 09:53 (nineteen years ago)

Bump, so it shows again.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Saturday, 2 September 2006 17:18 (nineteen years ago)

Ba-bump.

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 06:15 (nineteen years ago)

Thoughts.

Is 3pm(ish) asking for ruinousness?

Are we eating?

If we are eating, where? Are we going back to Alpen Lodge later? Will it be too busy? If it is, where is the alternative later-on venue?

If we aren't eating, erm, does anyone know a good hangover cure?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 15:37 (nineteen years ago)

don't drink!

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 15:43 (nineteen years ago)

Alternate alky and non-alky drinks!

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 15:44 (nineteen years ago)

haha. You pair are funny!

(seriously, people, food? what times are people getting there etc)

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 15:53 (nineteen years ago)

I tried to answer this a bit ago, but my keyboard half-died and I had to reboot the system.

3 is perhaps a little early, yes. We can be flexible to fit in with when people are leaving work/likely to turn up.

We thought about food too, but we probably won't go back to the pub afterwards - we have to find my Ma's new house for the first time, in the middle of Darkest Fife, that evening. Basgy not Uncooked Prawn Central for eats.

5 for drinking, 7 for eating?

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 15:59 (nineteen years ago)

3 for ruination drinking.
5 for people avoiding ruination.
7 for eating and/or ruinated departures.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 16:01 (nineteen years ago)

How about 4 for drinking, for bagsying seats in pubs before other people get out of work?

Yeah, no uncooked prawns and over-priced wine for dinner please. Who is actually coming? Should we go somewhere nice?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 16:03 (nineteen years ago)

4 for drinking and seat bagsying sounds fine. I am happy with somewhere nice for dinner.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 16:06 (nineteen years ago)

How about a Persian dinner?

Mädchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 08:15 (nineteen years ago)

Sounds nice. I leave myself in the hands of glasgow, although THIS IS NOT PERMISSION TO CHANGE EVERYTHING TO GOING TO FUCKING MONO.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 09:16 (nineteen years ago)

If there's support for Persian I need to know ASAP so I can see about table booking. It'd be a group booking on a Friday, y'see.

Mädchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 10:24 (nineteen years ago)

Support then, even though I know nothing about it or where it is or what my name is or where I live or how to go to the toilet.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 10:30 (nineteen years ago)

What Persian restaurant?

Onimo (GerryNemo), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 10:48 (nineteen years ago)

This Persian restaurant :(((

Mädchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:46 (nineteen years ago)

That'll be no, then.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:54 (nineteen years ago)

I think I am working the same shift at the same place as Stet, so might come along for a late drink - [ahem-deleted @ poster's request] someone oh god

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 17:42 (nineteen years ago)

Are you, Ward? With me? Coo ur.

stet (stet), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 17:51 (nineteen years ago)

Good old Grimly!

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 17:57 (nineteen years ago)

Um... soliciting for drugs on a public forum where the time and place of the meeting is listed isn't the best idea in the world.

Or am I just getting old?

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 7 September 2006 08:34 (nineteen years ago)

If the Pinefox comes out on Friday, it'd sure make up for the lack of Persian!

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 7 September 2006 08:43 (nineteen years ago)

i thought ward meant crispy seaweed from the chinese shop

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 7 September 2006 11:31 (nineteen years ago)

tell it to the judge son

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 7 September 2006 11:43 (nineteen years ago)

who is ward?

dahlin (dahlin), Thursday, 7 September 2006 11:46 (nineteen years ago)

i cant i no speak engwish

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 7 September 2006 11:47 (nineteen years ago)

I didn't realise the Glasgow fuzz were so vigilant, but I shall nonetheless ask the mods to delete my 'offending' post.

dahlin i am an old, old skool ILX poster who has just moved to Glasgow. Grimly has sorted me out a little bit of subbing work. I believe you stayed in Tottenham w/ my old, old friend M. Skidmore last year.

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Thursday, 7 September 2006 13:33 (nineteen years ago)

I don't think anyone's offended, I'm not.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 7 September 2006 13:50 (nineteen years ago)

hmmmmmmm

dahlin (dahlin), Thursday, 7 September 2006 15:50 (nineteen years ago)

If we are eating, where? Are we going back to Alpen Lodge later? Will it be too busy? If it is, where is the alternative later-on venue?

If anyone is coming, and doesn't think they'll be around until later, and wants to pass on a mobile number to be texted in case of any change of venue post-food, feel free to email me.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 7 September 2006 15:57 (nineteen years ago)

Madchen's post is generous. Unless she is mocking me in an obscure way. But I don't think she is!

the pinefox (the pinefox), Thursday, 7 September 2006 18:40 (nineteen years ago)

i'll mock you if you like

dahlin (dahlin), Thursday, 7 September 2006 19:39 (nineteen years ago)

Ow. My head hurts. Cheers Glasgow, youse are great. Nearly as great as the random JAMC/Englebert Humperdinck/Stranglers/Corries combinations thrown up by the greatest jukebox in the world.

I'm off to the pub again. I might see some of you later if I live.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 9 September 2006 10:10 (nineteen years ago)

i'm sorry i missed this. such is life.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 11 September 2006 07:28 (nineteen years ago)

Hahaha WE TOOK OVER THE PUB.

Other than that, it was a pleasure as always, glasgow.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 11 September 2006 21:40 (nineteen years ago)

I think I talked a lot of drunken shite (no change there) but thanks for what I think I remember was a good night.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Monday, 11 September 2006 21:55 (nineteen years ago)

HUGGLEZ TO GERRY!

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 05:38 (nineteen years ago)

Aye, I forgot to mention that some quality touching was going on.
