'Jackie Chan's First Strike' is on C5 tonight - anyone know if this is any good? It gets two stars in the Radio Times, which usually means it is a masterpiece.

Haven't caught it before it andrew (don't think) but nevah yet saw a JC which isn't totally watchable, even his REALLY DAFT early releases (Drunken Master, is that him - blimey my memory is so RUBBISH these days, probably i HAF seen this one); (admittedly his US co-prod movies don't have enuff fight in em by a long way)

You won't be disappointed. I'm thinking of getting him for my own body guard!!!! Oooo la la! *g*

Gale Deslongchamps, Sunday, 3 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

We don't need another hero! I'm starting to think that Jackie will never stop making movies which is of course a wonderful thing.

You will need a bodyguard to fend off an angry Ronan, Gale!! Hmmm you are very feisty tonight.

mark s, Sunday, 3 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well it's not my fault as Benny Hill would say. Ronan hasn't been here to argue with lately... :( :( I thought putting him where I did on the list would rattle his cage... *g*

No, but sometimes we do need to know the way home.

Robin Carmody, Sunday, 3 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hi Robin, did you get lost or something?

Gale Deslongchamps, Sunday, 3 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

'First Strike' was, as Mark predicted, v. watchable if not actually that GRATE (it took an awfully long time to get going.) I'm not that familiar with Jackie's filmog, but was struck by the fact that he spent most of the film in terrible pain - there was something really sadistic/masochistic abt watching J.C. getting thumped and bumped for 90 minutes.

Well, At least we know he can handle himself.

Gale Deslongchamps, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

yes his main expression was "oh no! not again!"

also i liked that his first speech in the film was the most unBond-like "The CIA have millions of agents!! Why do they need me!!"

also in the bloopers run-out, when he jumps into the step-ladder, first we see him get it wrong and hurt himself, then get it wrong and break the ladder (it was made of metal!!), then get it right and immediately get hit in the eye by his actor-combatant's fighting stick!! he should do the itchy and scratchy live action full-length!!

Mmmmmm, Enrique.

"That man, he moves like a monkey"

Graham, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I would say more like a panther! WOW!

Gale Deslongchamps, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

How much better would the "Mad Max" series have been if it featured Jackie Chan rather than Mel Gibson?

Dan Perry, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

There is no comparison, as Jackie Chan is more for comedy and Mell is more for drama/suspense.... Mel is sooooo much better looking!

Gale, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Gale are you on 24-hr-alert? You have posted round the clock on this thread *and* CdB :)

mark s, Monday, 4 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well I have a quiet life at the moment and am just resting up. :)
