Thinking about going. Did you go alone, with friends, or on a group tour?

Yes. "Patagoina" is cheap knockoff outdoor clothing brand from China.

He hasn't, but he wants to live there, apparently (Not the one in South Caleeforneea).

I was there about five years ago, spent about three months in Patagonia. Drop me your email address if you want some specifics.

Highlights: The Welsh villages, the Fossilised forest near Sacramento, the Old Patagonian Express, sealife off the Atlantic coast [whales, sea lions, dolphins, penguins etc], Ushwaia at the end of the world, Puerto Williams on Isla Navarino, Punta Arenas [for Chatwin devotees - Charlie Millward lived here], the Moreno Glacier near Calafate, loads more I've forgotten. Amazing place.

Haha Trayce, I almost posted those lyrics a few hours ago.

To answer your question, I did it alone, mostly hitching. This was in the days before the Argentine economy collapsed [De la Rua was President, I think] and the peso was pegged to the dollar. Argentina used to be the most expensive of the South American countries. Chile wasn't cheap either. Never waited long for a lift [note, travel with attractive partner] and the drivers would often cook us dinner and put us up for the night.
