How has the board been this past week?

I made a couple of changes to the server configuration last week, and have been tweaking them a little since. I wonder have people noticed an improvement in stability and responsiveness over the past week or so?

Andrew (enneff), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 22:42 (nineteen years ago)

I have. I'm hardly getting poxy fuled at all.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 22:44 (nineteen years ago)

It's been working pretty well over here. Thanks.

Matthew Perpetua! (Matthew Perpetua!), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 22:44 (nineteen years ago)

There've been fewer Poxy Fules in the last week, certainly.

chap who would dare to start Raaatpackin (chap), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 22:45 (nineteen years ago)

Definitely good here, but I'm afraid to touch the search still

stet (stet), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 22:46 (nineteen years ago)

I'm not, I'm gonna do one right now!

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 22:53 (nineteen years ago)

Been running searches heavily and an occasional hang-up or two aside it's done very well. Rah the Andrew!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 22:55 (nineteen years ago)

It worked!

I also was surprised (and yet not) to learn that almost every time I have typed the word 'pineapple' into ile (more than 10), it has been shortly followed by 'zombie blowjob.'

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 22:57 (nineteen years ago)

My experience has shown a marked improvement in ILx stability this past week.

Aimless (Aimless), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 23:07 (nineteen years ago)

MUCH better!

cheers.

i'd pretty much gotten poxy fuled out of even getting on here at all for awhile there. now it's all gravy.

Some legends never die.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 23:13 (nineteen years ago)

Like Ned I've been using the Search function with impunity. I've seen nae a poxy fule.

Edward III (edward iii), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 23:14 (nineteen years ago)

too much information

gear (gear), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 23:22 (nineteen years ago)

Two poxy fules today, one yesterday, both very brief; two searches, instant results. Great responsiveness all week.

Edward III (edward iii), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 23:25 (nineteen years ago)

Couple of poxy fules but double-clicking Refresh sorted out both.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 07:34 (nineteen years ago)

No poxy fules but got an error message 'can't complete table' (or something like that) a couple of times end of last week.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 07:37 (nineteen years ago)

Was just going to say exactly this. Yay and well done.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 07:42 (nineteen years ago)

I've occasionally had server timeouts - my browser throws up the "server ilx.p3r.net is not responding" type of error message - but they're always only momentary. To be honest I thought it was down to my net connection, because that's been flaky recently too.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 07:45 (nineteen years ago)

(so well done for getting rid of the poxy fuling!)

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 07:45 (nineteen years ago)

No poxy fules here ..... thanks for the tweaking, Andrew!

Look! No more poxy fules!

Ned T.Rifle (nedtrifle), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 11:45 (nineteen years ago)

That desk in the middle-distance must be the server console.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 12:00 (nineteen years ago)

very few poxy fules lately, the ones I've had have been magically refreshed away in one click.

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 12:03 (nineteen years ago)

no more poxy fules = no more code rewrite?

TOMBOT (TOMBOT), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 12:26 (nineteen years ago)

not that there's anything wrong with legacy spaghetti, if it works it works. the only thing that's really, really broken about the ILXcode is the fact that Graham owns it, IMO

TOMBOT (TOMBOT), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 12:27 (nineteen years ago)

It's been very quiet over at the Google group.

Edward III (edward iii), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 16:06 (nineteen years ago)

Mother of mercy, is this the end of the sandbox?

Edward III (edward iii), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 16:07 (nineteen years ago)

Works pretty good! All hail Landru!

I think so. Not even grout is posting over there.

Run Ruud Run (Ken L), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 19:55 (nineteen years ago)

The code should still be rewritten.

Andrew (enneff), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 22:50 (nineteen years ago)

I was gonna say...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 22:51 (nineteen years ago)

something seems to be seriously fucked tonight. i've left a message on the mod request board too, but ... hmm.

(where previously i'd have expected a poxy fule, now i get a blank window.)

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 15 September 2006 19:36 (nineteen years ago)

OOOH ARACHNOPHOBIA!!!

oh wait, i read that as "black widow."

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 15 September 2006 19:39 (nineteen years ago)

i've had very few poxy fules, if any. well done and thanks!

one thing - occasionally i click on a thread and get a blank page. when i refresh, the page shows up normally.

fellini-esque-lit-rockist (tehresa), Saturday, 16 September 2006 00:57 (nineteen years ago)

sometimes when i try to post to a thread or open a thread, it gives me a box asking me to download it instead of it opening like it normally does. i can get around the opening thread thing by using the "open link in new tab" function in firefox, but no such luck for posting to a thread.

t0dd swiss (immobilisme), Saturday, 16 September 2006 01:08 (nineteen years ago)

I've tried about 10 times to post to an ILM thread, but I just get the blank screen. But I just posted to an ILE thread and the post went through OK.

I've been having this too, both with threads and with the New Answers page. Refreshing seems to fix it, though.

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Sunday, 17 September 2006 11:49 (nineteen years ago)

working like a charm now, after months of sloooowdown & poxyfulery

m coleman (lovebug starski), Sunday, 17 September 2006 12:40 (nineteen years ago)

Lots of looooong, slooooooooooow, paaaaaaaaauses, today and yesterday. But no poxy fule or blank screen.

Danny Aioli (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 20 September 2006 22:25 (nineteen years ago)

Poxy fuling today.

The Bearnaise-Stain Bears (Rock Hardy), Friday, 22 September 2006 18:54 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, got that once or twice. Hmm.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 22 September 2006 18:58 (nineteen years ago)
