is there anyone around now doing that sorta HST/meltzer '60s-'70s speed-binge writeathon stuff in the print world (non-internet), or did it basically die for good after a blip of rebirth with infinite jest? i guess i'm interested in the "lifer" guys and not the mcsweeney's dudes who down a glass of mountain dew and write two carefully mispunctuated paragraphs.

i don't romanticize this type of writing (anymore, haha), but it came up in conversation earlier and i was curious.

jody, this is OT, but i don't think '60s/'70s meltzer is speed binge writeathon. it's more playful. there's stoned-ness in The Aesthetics of Rock, but Gulcher seems to me to be pretty sober, actually.

as far as rock writing, chris stigliano still publishes 150 page issues of his fanzine and has high-powered blog posts every week!
