Suffering fools gladly

I think this is fun thing to do. Why are people so down on it?

N., Tuesday, 5 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have intense paranoia that people think I'm stupid. I would rather they told me.

Other than that, lack of tolerance.

Anna, Tuesday, 5 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have a friend who not only suffers fools gladly but solicits their company and sets genial traps for them to exercise their foolishness in excelsis. Somehow this isn't quite malicious, more the pursuit of a kind of expanded sense of the absurdity of all human interaction. I just sort of cringe a lot, and make with the moues of the ineffectual and over-polite.

Because they bug me at work when they don't realize that the date due times are on their record for a reason. *growl*

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 6 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I want my obituary to mention the fact that I suffered fools gladly, anyway.

N., Thursday, 7 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Nick is a hippy.

Lars, Thursday, 7 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Nick is a hippy. i suffer fools on a daily basis with the maximum amount of pain, stress and lip-chewing anxious outrage. then i have to go to the chiropractor or cry. i don't think it's good for me.

katie, Thursday, 7 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What's with this NicoLars thing anyway?

N., Thursday, 7 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

See the "Class of '73" thread. I'm just glad the truth is out!

You're just trying to deflect attention from the fact you're a hippy, aren't you?

NicoLars, Thursday, 7 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

pity the fool!

goeff, Thursday, 7 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i don't actually know what the phrase means.

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 7 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i don't actually know what the phrase means. Hello you fool, I love you.

N., Thursday, 7 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

one year passes...
Hahaha apparently N. still finds this enjoyable?

Allyzay, Friday, 12 December 2003 02:19 (twenty-two years ago)

i must admit, i have been getting a peculiar sense of fun from this recently also. my other favourite is when people are really angry and they are shouting and you are like almost obsequiosly friendly as though they werent angry at all.

i get plenty of practice at this while at work, sometimes they apologise for being obnoxious afterwards and i tell them i hadnt really noticed

i view losing my temper as a personal failure (though i did throw a fugazi record down the stairs when i was 13, though i now believe this was in fact the right thing to do)

charltonlido (gareth), Friday, 12 December 2003 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, your life is really muchly improved from doing that if you ask me. You probably should've thrown it even harder than you did. If it didn't break then you wasted time.

Allyzay, Friday, 12 December 2003 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

actually i think it is because i dont want fools to learn the errors of their ways, i dont want them to know how stupid people think they are, i want them to carry on through life being dumbasses until one day they wake up aged 62 realising their whole life was shit and everyone laughed at them and thought they were a dickhead and that they might as well have been dead the whole time

i think thats funny

charltonlido (gareth), Friday, 12 December 2003 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I think it is too! I think you just became my role model actually. I need to change the way I am going about things because while pointing out how retarded people are acting is actually very funny to me, doing it your way seems quite a lot more interesting of a social experiment.

Allyzay, Friday, 12 December 2003 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I have noticed that Gareth has been v. on my wavelength lately re: this.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 12 December 2003 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

hello

TOMBOT, Friday, 12 December 2003 19:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Gareth has always been very wise about things like this.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 12 December 2003 19:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Is it me yr looking for?

Lionel Richie, Friday, 12 December 2003 19:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha I am completely incapable of this, the thread question I mean.

TOMBOT, Friday, 12 December 2003 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Gareth's model is marvelous indeed -- in my case, as we have seen, my patience runs out.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 December 2003 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I started this thread in a kind of chirpy passive-aggressive way, to mock self-important people who use the phrase and maybe also those who don't use it but get bothered by fools.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 12 December 2003 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I wish that really did happen to people at the age of 62.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 12 December 2003 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

what ally said

bad jode (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 12 December 2003 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)
