Self Help Book: The Art of Possibility

My ex just gave me The Art of Possibility and urged me to read it because he said it inspired him..or something. I can't get past the 3rd chapter. So far it doesn't strike me as original and well...it read like crap.

Does anyone here like this book? Should I continue on? I'm not sure if I'm just biased because I don't read self-help books and my ex is one of those neurotic New York kids that grew up in therapy and admitted that the Celestial Prophecy opened up his mind.

Helping yourself starts with caring about what you read, dude.

the title alone is a red flag so huge it could be used as a bedsheet

the last thing I read was the manual that came with dragon quest heroes: rocket slime for my DS. it was, frankly, transformative.

Would it not perhaps be obvious that if you're not getting anything out of the book and it seems uninspired and dull, then maybe it isn't doing its job?

hey trayce,
yeah...it didn't seem like it was doing its job at all...but i just wanted to make sure it wasn't me making assumptions out of my skepticism of self help books and of the person who gave it to me.

Read the last 15 pages like people do with romance novels to see how it all turns out. Then you will know.
