I only had one good costume, and that was when I went as Sean Carruthers. I just wore a black shirt and jeans and said I was Sean Carruthers. People laughed, but I think it hurt his feelings and for that I'm sorry.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 6 October 2006 04:30 (nineteen years ago)

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Friday, 6 October 2006 05:31 (nineteen years ago)

I was waiting to see when someone would ask that. Mentally, yes (I was 19), I was a child.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 6 October 2006 05:36 (nineteen years ago)

sunny successor (katharine), Friday, 6 October 2006 13:03 (nineteen years ago)

sunny, you giving out sweets again this year? was it you that hid in your bathroom or something last year? that's cute.

ai lien (kold_krush), Friday, 6 October 2006 13:11 (nineteen years ago)

My dad is a big military history buff, so I always ended up going as "Swiss Military Police Officer" or "Swedish MP." Going to school on the 31st in a helmet was always cumbersome.

i was a samurai for something like four years in a row - it started out really nice, i had a kimono and a gold spray-painted wooden sword, and deteriorated over the years until i was wearing a bath robe and brandishing stick. the 1st year (6 yrs old) i won a dukes of hazzard puzzle in a costume contest.

1 samurai
2 fat kid (ovb in v poor taste, i stuffed some big clothes clothes w/pillows, people were made uncomfortable thinking i was actually really fat and had no costume - ah the mind of an 11 yr old)
3 samurai
4 business man (briefcase for candy, every house trying to make deals for entire contents of bowl)
5 samurai

Oh, I was a clown one year. This probably takes the number 1 spot for me. I won "funniest costume" award for my Brownies Troup (Jr. Girlscouts) Halloween parade. Thing is, I had just gotten the cast off my leg after an unfortunate first attempt at ice skating, where I fractured my tibia. Anyway, the Troup leaders thought limping was part of my clown schtick. It was really just because I couldn't walk very well.

molly d (mollyd), Friday, 6 October 2006 13:56 (nineteen years ago)

ai lien, that was me but it was more like the floor of the bedroom with all the lights off. those kids were still bing bonging though. a ill need a lot more candy this year.

sunny successor (katharine), Friday, 6 October 2006 13:58 (nineteen years ago)

jhoshea megafauna (scoopsnoodle), Friday, 6 October 2006 14:08 (nineteen years ago)

kate, that is so cute and funny! when i run out of candy, i ususally just go somewhere, ANYWHERE so i don't have to hide in my house, which i've had to do before, A LA hiding on the floor, in the dark. the next day is my burfday!

ai lien (kold_krush), Friday, 6 October 2006 14:41 (nineteen years ago)

I was Paul Stanley of Kiss for four years as a child. I had a plastic mask and one of those little super-flammable plastic smocks.

Party Time Country Female (pullapartgirl), Saturday, 7 October 2006 18:45 (nineteen years ago)

that picture is awesome, jed!

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Saturday, 7 October 2006 18:51 (nineteen years ago)

:-) it was taken at optimo. i must admit the picture makes it look better than it was.

roxy, were you someone specific?

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 7 October 2006 18:54 (nineteen years ago)

one year passes...

I was SHERA, Princess of Power one year. That costume was definitely my best.. I was 5 or so. I am really feeling the idea of throwing a Hallowe'en party this year and need ideas! I would like to use the fact that I am a tall redheaded female with short hair. All I can think of is Joan Holloway from Mad Men, which would earn me serious points but I don't know where I'd even begin with the girdle, excellent hairdo, heels, etc. Anyone else thinking of dressing up this year?
