People who can (or must) not swear.

This day and age, anyone can swear, right? You, yr mother, me, Caprice can say "cunt" while describing her part in "The Vagina Monologues", who else? Nearly everyone.

So, who would still render a "Oh no! This is not the world I know!" shockness to the general public if they ever uttered an expletive, no matter what the circmstances?

Or am I killing this thread if I mention The Pope and The Queen this early in the thread?

actual TV presenters/hosts before 9pm would still cause alarm by swearing (intentionally or accidentally).

Konal Doddz (blueski), Monday, 9 October 2006 08:51 (nineteen years ago)

i got told off for swearing playing Counterstrike recently.

and i'm constantly being told off for swearing around my niece and nephews.

Ste (Fuzzy), Monday, 9 October 2006 08:56 (nineteen years ago)

no swearing in CS is like no numatics in the pool.

teh_kit (g-kit), Monday, 9 October 2006 08:57 (nineteen years ago)

i have a key bound to "CUNT IT!" ffs

teh_kit (g-kit), Monday, 9 October 2006 08:57 (nineteen years ago)

but that's already bound to F10

ken c (ken c), Monday, 9 October 2006 09:01 (nineteen years ago)

I think my mother would explode if the word "fuck" passed her lips. But then again, she is a priest. I don't think priests are allowed to say things like "fuck" or "cuntybags" or even "jesus fucking bollocks", even these days.

"You're not trying to tell me when the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland drops that big bible he says 'Jings!'."

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 9 October 2006 09:09 (nineteen years ago)

My Mum doesn't swear generally speaking. The worst you'll hear from her ever is an exasperated "Shit!"...and thats a rarity.

I'm down for runnin' up on them crackers in the city hall... (papa november), Monday, 9 October 2006 09:10 (nineteen years ago)

Jerry Seinfeld to thread

Ste (Fuzzy), Monday, 9 October 2006 09:11 (nineteen years ago)

My mum's worst swearword is a thunderous "DAMN!"

And you feel utterly and completely damned when it is directed at you!

once again an occasion to recall that old Ma Hand, the really old one, my great-grandmother, was once heard storming around the house, muttering "Mussel Shoals, Mussel Shoals"... when asked why she kept repeating "Mussel Shoals" she said it was the biggest dam she knew

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Monday, 9 October 2006 10:58 (nineteen years ago)

dammy!

wogan lenin (dog latin), Monday, 9 October 2006 11:04 (nineteen years ago)

i think she was actually a full-grown woman, too

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Monday, 9 October 2006 11:24 (nineteen years ago)

Certainly newsreaders etc are not allowed to. I recall one of the female ones on the Today programme a while ago saying that a character in The Archers (Brian Alridge) was a "ess aitch one tee" (s h 1 t) and there was a real fuss and she had to apologise etc.

my mother once shocked me by screaming "fucking ada" when I broke a lanmpshade.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Monday, 9 October 2006 12:25 (nineteen years ago)

I would be surprised if David Attenborough swore.

"And here we see the fucking wildebeast sweeping across the cunting majestic savana..."

Now I'm imagining that he swore ALL THE TIME and no-one noticed because of his Majestic Rolling Intonation.

Elementary school teachers

I was actually coming here to post "Elementary school students".

got yourself a fish biscuit! (nickalicious), Monday, 9 October 2006 13:58 (nineteen years ago)

Although, they are totally EXPECTED to cuss at each other w/o adult supervision. But in the presence of parents/teachers/etc, it is shocking.

Fun thing to do: give your children a certain place/time when it is okay for them to cuss. Around campfire is a good one. They will go balls-out trying to cram in as many of the swears they are comfortable saying into each sentence, a la Bart Simpson "hell damn fart".

Me, on the phone to the evil, thieving, stupid scallies that make up a small(ish) proportion of the people I have to deal with each day.
I think they'd all be surpised to find out that most civil servants swear like navvies when their customers aren't around.

Oh yes, and me again; in front of my mum. I suspect she knows I swear (I'm nearly 37 for fucks sake!) but she's never heard me swear.

Stone Monkey (Stone Monkey), Monday, 9 October 2006 16:08 (nineteen years ago)

I can't say the word 'c*nt'. That's still a horribly nasty swear word in the US and just not in my lexicon.

Sam: Screwed and Chopped (Molly Jones), Monday, 9 October 2006 16:10 (nineteen years ago)

Both my parents swear like fucking troopers.

chap who would dare to contain two ingredients. Tea and bags. (chap), Monday, 9 October 2006 16:13 (nineteen years ago)

My mum does too. And she swear in patois too.

But I don't think I'd be able to deal with her disappointment on hearing me cursing. For some reason, she thinks I'm better than that.

Stone Monkey (Stone Monkey), Monday, 9 October 2006 16:47 (nineteen years ago)

I know what you mean. My mum doesn't mind at all if I swear in front of her, but I tend not to because, you know, I'm a NICE boy. Weirdly I have no problems with alluding to my recreational drug use in her company, though.

Sign language swearing is the best.

My mum rarely swears, and I have NEVER heard her drop the f-bomb.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 10 October 2006 04:45 (nineteen years ago)

My sister sent this to me in an email:

If I die in a car accident you can be sure that my last word was the ā€œSā€ word.
