I am finding Dictionaraoke quite intriguing and not just a novelty site at all. Its mixing of karaoke with CD-ROM dictionary diction proves horribly affecting in a HAL singing 'Mary Had A Little Lamb' kind of way. I was sitting at my desk listening to 'Martha My Dear' and found myself welling up with the skewed, sickly, curiously elegaic romanticism of the whole thing. 'I Got You Babe' and 'Copacabana' work well too. Don't bother with 'How Soon Is Now'. Someone has tried to be funny by using synonyms instead of the proper lyrics and it's just annoying. Anyway, the site is run by people who say 'ha ha isn't this funny' so am I a fool to take it all so seriously?

Time of the season sounds like a Ladytron cover version of it. it's cool.

Hilarious. Misfits - Last Caress is particularly funny.

Listening to Like A Prayer. Very nice actually, with some curious munchkin type stuff going on at the end and lots of 'come-on!'s. Sounds a bit like New Order now.

Err.. spot the deliberate mistake in my reference to my 'favourite film'. Actually 'Daisy Daisy' not 'Mary Had A Little Lamb'

Video Killed The Radio Star is the greatest thing ever (or at least the verses are). Blitzkrieg Bop gave me a headache.

N. in liking 2001 shockah! Me and Mark S will have you out for a fight - though of course we will probably be rent assunder in a secondary argument regarding the merits of Bertrand Russell's History Of Western Philosophy.

Can't listen to any of these at work - but it sounds like Nick is suffering from PMT.

Maybe. But if I am I love it and you women should stop moaning.

Here, I told you characters about this months ago on ILM, since I'm on the Negativland mailing list that spawned this. AND DID YOU CARE?

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 7 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry - it was probably on some thread that bewildered me.

With the title 'Introducing Dictionaraoke' or somesuch? ;-)

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 7 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Anyway, I wish you'd stop seeing ILE and ILM as some sort of continuum.
