My 5 year old and I were in a shop on Thayer St where he spotted COLD WAR UNICORNS which is a pair of toy unicorns one being red white and blue and t'other being red with a hammer and sickle on its hindshank and the two BATTLING FOR DOMINATION and he loved them and wants them for Xmas and that's that. Not only is this one of the most bizarre Xmas requests ever, it led to this exchange:

E4: Dad, what does cold war mean?
E3: Well, you know what war is?
E4: I forget.
E3: It's when countries aren't getting along and they fight with guns.
E4: Okay.
E3: A cold war is when they don't fight but they're mean to each other.
E4: But the unicorns were fighting.
E3: ...
E3: (racks brain for suitable explanation of abstract symbolism, gives up)
E3: Did they have guns?
E4: No.
E3: Then that's why they're cold war unicorns.

I know, I know, a crap job of explaining. But you explain this:
