Went ahead and voted early on a shiny Diebold machine. Horribly depressing ballot - no competitive races, and I couldn't vote on half the ballot because it was Republican or bust.

At the last minute I voted for the Democratic schmuck for Governor, Kinky Friedman was OK as a joke candidate until I found out the punchline wasn't funny.

A little old lady tried to talk me into voting for a countywide property tax freeze for the elderly and disabled - "Everyone gets to be elderly some day..." Yeah, lady, I'm sure this property tax freeze will hold for 50 years and surely wouldn't drive up my share elsewhere.

kinky said some really racist things about katrina refugees, right? if so, fuck him.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 1 November 2006 03:51 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, "crackheads and thugs" "draining the system," etc. along with some old racist comedy routines that were found.

I voted by absentee ballot. It felt great knowing that I was helping to unseat the Republican incumbents. If the polls indicate anything, Ohio's getting a new governor and a new Senator.

I live in DC. Give us a fucking break. The rest of you, vote Dem or be stricken.

a friend of mine doing grad school here got to vote absentee in ohio. he'd met with both sherrod brown and ted strickland a few times as congressmen and is super-excited to see them poised to win.

i've organised a bit of a party to watch the results come in at SFU next tuesday. if you're in the neighbourhood, stop by for a pint.

derrick (derrick), Wednesday, 1 November 2006 10:17 (eighteen years ago)

I'll go to a party the day after the election if there is reason for a party. No sooner.

This is the kiddo's first year to vote, and she's so excited she can't stand it. Too bad she's in one of the reddest states -- someday she'll get to vote for the winner.

Tell her to move to Leland, Rock!

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Thursday, 2 November 2006 04:08 (eighteen years ago)

Leland...hmmm, well, it's a bit out of the way...

Django Blowhardt (Rock Hardy), Thursday, 2 November 2006 04:28 (eighteen years ago)

You shouldn't have to go far to find the blues in your red state.

I ordered an absentee ballot, but haven't taken the five minute walk to pick up the mail all week.

Maria (Maria), Thursday, 2 November 2006 05:39 (eighteen years ago)

I'm going to City Hall this weekend to vote.

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 2 November 2006 15:44 (eighteen years ago)

shit i hope it's not too late for my absentee ballot.

(paraphrased) wording on VA law change text "Should this constitutional law prohibiting churches from becoming corporations be removed, now that everyone pretty much agrees that it is outdated?" -thanks for the not-so-subtle hint Falwell & co.!!
