Can we discuss the legality (or at least the ethics) of selling people's private communications with a clergyman? (Especially when they're local, non-anonymous, and just a few years old?)

Yeah, gbx -- I assume it's legally fair play only because (a) the owner/recipient is dead, and (b) whoever took ownership of them clearly discarded them. But if they'd been come across nearly any other way, it wouldn't even be legal, I don't think.
