Defend the Indefensible: Carson Daly

The best I can do is that he takes every chance he can to state how awful the band Creed is.

While obvious, such actions from a man in his position are somewhat respectable.

on the rat pack fashion tip before Barack Obama

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 01:33 (eighteen years ago)

I think I remember hearing he's responsible for breaking "Walking On The Sun." This could go either way for most, but I like that song.

Zwan (miccio), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 01:33 (eighteen years ago)

In hindsight, I can be a little wistful for when he and David Holmes would be bloated, drunk and depressed while hosting TRL back in the day.

I doubt he is responsible for his wardrobe.

He broke Tara Reid.

milo z (mlp), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 01:53 (eighteen years ago)

I can't believe his talk show hasn't been cancelled. Worst monologues EVER.

defense: good musical guests every so often? but mostly shit.

Marmot (marmotwolof), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 01:55 (eighteen years ago)

but mostly shit

Fischerspooner's first network TV appearence. In wich Casey Spooner felt in necessary to holler "yeeeeeeaaaaahh!!! first network tv appearance ever!!!" on the mic during one of Emerge's several breakdowns.

researching ur life (grady), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 01:58 (eighteen years ago)

a watershed event, to be sure

gear (gear), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 01:59 (eighteen years ago)

I remember thinking so at the time.

I can't believe his talk show hasn't been cancelled. Worst monologues EVER.

amen to that.

I always get this deep feeling of sadness when I'm still awake and his show comes on. It's like, "Shit, I'm going to be tired tomorrow, and this is the last thing I will remember of today."

They gave him a live mic!?

Marmot (marmotwolof), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 02:05 (eighteen years ago)

And don't give me some bullshit excuse like "he's the singer."

Marmot (marmotwolof), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 02:06 (eighteen years ago)

META!

He's a man with a job.
He does it, and makes money. He probably saves every dime, waiting for the axe when the music scne backlashes against that which he'll end up associated with.

He doesn't like the crap he plays! LOOK at him! he hates his life!

Why does he do a shitty talk show? He gets paid to!
Offer me a million a year to be boring and lame on national TV and I'll do it....3 times a day.

He probably gets twice that at least.

The GZeus (The GZeus), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 02:30 (eighteen years ago)

he has a show? good god. I think his womanly hips make him appear more affable than he really is. This is a positive?

tremendoid (tremendoid), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 02:32 (eighteen years ago)

xp:

Hey this is a "Defend the Indefensible" thread!

Also, that Fischerspooner appearance w/ Casey on the mic= so much worse than I remember.

researching ur life (grady), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 02:33 (eighteen years ago)

lol manorexia

timmy tannin (pompous), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 03:10 (eighteen years ago)

He always struck me as the "nice" frat boy dude that would be in your English class and be friendly with you and maybe even say something smart sometimes.

A-ron Hubbard (Hurting), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 04:21 (eighteen years ago)

He looks like a cat man. I went to a taping of his show a couple years ago and I felt bad for him because he appears to be well aware that he sucks. This leads me to my defense which is that this self awareness means that he is not the least watchable network late night TV show. Craig Ferguson sucks but does not realize it and as a result his entire show is completely radioactive even if he has a great guest.

Adrienne Begley (sparklecock), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 05:15 (eighteen years ago)

I do realize that there is a growing segment of society which holds the opinion that his show is like the most unfairly slept on thing on TV but I am going to say now that if anyone in this thread defends Mr. Wick to that extent I will send them a package bomb, I'm sorry.

Adrienne Begley (sparklecock), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 05:16 (eighteen years ago)

He broke Tara Reid.

in more ways than one i'm sure

latebloomer (latebloomer), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 07:37 (eighteen years ago)

i don't really have any ill will towards him

craig ferguson is the scottish tony danza.

the starbucks in the forbidden city (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 07:44 (eighteen years ago)

craig ferguson totally knows he's subpar, he just knows how to harness the power of denial.

tremendoid (tremendoid), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 08:31 (eighteen years ago)

Classic in Josie and the Pussycats, partly for facilitating the line "Are you saying a brother can't be Carson Daly?"

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 10:07 (eighteen years ago)

"People don't know this about me, but I looove Broadway. Not so much the musicals, but the plays. The dramatic pieces, if you will."

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 06:52 (eighteen years ago)

four years pass...

Dude had Screaming Females play live on his show recently. And the Black Angels are on tonight, supposedly.

GLOWER METAL (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Saturday, 9 April 2011 08:43 (fourteen years ago)

Last Call is a great show, but little of that actually has to do with Carson Daly. You could throw any halfway decent host in there and achieve the same results. It's mostly about the guests and the format.

Not that I hate Daly. He seems okay.

That's why they call me (Johnny Fever), Saturday, 9 April 2011 08:46 (fourteen years ago)

one year passes...

OK just got to hear Carson Daly say "Stick around, more Melvins after the break." Dream fulfilled.
