IM A SOLDIER OF THE APOCALYPSE, MAN

Sure, it looks like GTA: San Andreas: The Movie, but Bale has been on a roll lately.

It's the lazy and immoral way to become super hip. (Austin, Still), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 01:52 (nineteen years ago)

Is it any good I haven't seen it yet?

The director made Ethan Hawke work in Training Day, no way he goes wrong with Christian Bale and the guy from Six Feet Under.

It's pretty good, if you don't choke on the unlikeliness of it all. Bale does good psycho. I haven't seen Training Day but I vaguely had S.W.A.T and Dark Blue in my mind and it wasn't till after watching Harsh Times that I found out they were all written by the same guy, so you have to hand it to the guy for having a recognisable style.

Incidentally, how come imdb has it listed as a 2005 film? I thought that was determined by the earliest date under "release dates" but that's August 2006.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 03:27 (nineteen years ago)

it's not the same director as 'training day', just the writer. has this only just come out in the US or what?

benrique (Enrique), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 16:08 (nineteen years ago)

It's coming out this week, it looks like!

I didn't really like Bale in this one. Slipping between 'oh my god I'm so insane' and an accent born of someone who listened to "Insane in the Membrane" too much was never believable.

I am used to Bale as Jack, heroic Newsie, so every time I see an ad for a new movie of his, I am baffled. Why is he playing an asshole? I guess he's an asshole now, not the lead dreamy.
