OK, who do we have so far on the list:

David Guest (resembles an inflatable baloon of Breshnev)
Mylene Klass (o level in Desperate Housewives)
Faith Brown (as in Not Janet)
Jason Donovan (lemon juice)
Moira Stewart (from Extras to where?)

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 10:55 (nineteen years ago)

Malcolm McLaren, apparently. Some fashion designer I've never heard off. Someone off Footballer's Wives/Dream Team/something like that. And, according to Onimo, Abi Titmuss and/or John Leslie.

Faith Brown! That's the other one I couldn't remember when I was talking about this last night.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 10:58 (nineteen years ago)

There's Lauren Booth, the PM's sister-in-law though!!

C J (C J), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 10:59 (nineteen years ago)

Oh yeah, Lauren Booth.

Oh never, Malcolm McLaren!

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 11:01 (nineteen years ago)

Oh yeah, I did know about that. She's going to get all the shitty tasks like Carol Thatcher did last year, isn't she?

(re. Lauren Booth)

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 11:01 (nineteen years ago)

They announced them on GMTV this morning, but I can't remember them now.

Toby Anstiss, I think. Not Moira Stewart, but another newsreader ... Jan Leeming??

C J (C J), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 11:04 (nineteen years ago)

And the obligatory boy-band person. Someone from Boyzone, probably.

C J (C J), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 11:04 (nineteen years ago)

Toby Anstis is another mentioned.

And it's Jan Leeming, not Moira Stewart who's the Jennie Bond for this year, isn't it?

xpost!!

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 11:04 (nineteen years ago)

Oh yeah, my bad. (Re Jan Leeming)

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 11:04 (nineteen years ago)

Right, I'm off to news pages, see what list I can find:

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 11:06 (nineteen years ago)

Apparently David Guest was quoted as saying that he refuses to eat off anything except the finest bone china plates.

There's a rumour that Pete Burns is standing by as an understudy if anyone else drops out.

C J (C J), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 11:07 (nineteen years ago)

Actor and singer Jason Donovan has been lined up to enter the jungle in ITV's I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! reality TV series.
Liza Minelli's ex-husband David Gest, Myleene Klass and former Busted star Matt Willis are joining the show.

Prime minister Tony Blair's sister-in-law, Lauren Booth, will also be taking part.

Donovan, 38, has already been tipped to win, with bookmakers Ladbrokes making him the 2/1 favourite.

The former Neighbours actor said: "I want my own character to come across, my own identity, whatever that is."

Radio and television presenter Toby Anstis and comedienne Faith Brown, are also set to go into the jungle.

How am I gonna cope without a maid?

David Gest

They will be joined by fashion designer Scott Henshall, former news reader Jan Leeming and Footballers' Wives and The Bill actress Phina Oruche.

Gest, 48, best known for his brief marriage to singer Minelli, which lasted only a year, admits he has not washed up dishes in 25 years. He said: "How am I gonna cope without a maid?"

'Big surprise'

The programme's presenters Ant and Dec, who recently won the most popular entertainment presenter gong at the National Television Awards, will be back to host the show.

A selection of the most popular Bushtucker trials will again feature.

Past series have seen celebrities challenged to eat a selection of grubs, cross ravines on tightropes and handle snakes.

The show's executive producer, Richard Cowles, promises there will be a few twists and turns along the way this year.

"There is one big, never before seen surprise for the celebrities and whether it's a welcome one remains to be seen," he said.

The new series begins on Monday at 2100 GMT on ITV.

RAUNCHY Abi Titmuss has SCARED OFF her ex-lover John Leslie from the I'm A Celebrity line-up after being signed up for a whopping £150,000.

Producers hoped that reuniting the notorious pair would make next month's rumble in the jungle the biggest ever.

Sexy Abi has even pledged to strip off to spice up the show.

But disgraced former TV host Leslie, 41, has pulled out at the last minute after hearing that old flame Abi is to be the star of the reality show. (goes on for several years in this vein)

David Gest chills me to my very core.

chap who would dare to welcome our new stingray masters (chap), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 12:48 (nineteen years ago)

Apparently David Gest never got on his plane. And Abi Titmuss is asking people on her blog to nominate who (male or female) she should shag when she goes in halfway through.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 11 November 2006 14:54 (nineteen years ago)

I want to hear what Phina Oruche actually sounds like, her Brit accent on Buffy and American accent on Footballer's Wives were both so awful.

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Saturday, 11 November 2006 19:19 (nineteen years ago)

So, it begins today, viewingwise.

Oh, and no 'overnight feed' because of all the lovely money competition shows...

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 13 November 2006 10:18 (nineteen years ago)

What would your perfect sleb line-up for this show be?

I'd like to see David Walliams, Boris Johnson, Charlotte Church, and Andrea McLean (the GMTV weather girl who has been pregnant for about three years .. she could give birth in the jungle)

C J (C J), Monday, 13 November 2006 10:45 (nineteen years ago)

Tyra Banks, Alan Hansen, Dakota Fanning, Harold Pinter, Marcus Trescothick.

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 13 November 2006 12:46 (nineteen years ago)

How big are Myleene Klass' nipples in the vote clip where she's tying back her hair? Jeebus, you could hang a hammock off them. I'm scared.

Jan Leeming = This Years Nathalie Appleton.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 13 November 2006 22:21 (nineteen years ago)

David Gest gets the first voted trial. Couldn't have predicted that one.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 13 November 2006 22:27 (nineteen years ago)

there are odd parallels between david gest and john mccririck. ie they're both twats.

anyway, that was comfortingly and reassuringly shit, wasn't it?

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 13 November 2006 22:28 (nineteen years ago)

NOT AS SHIT AS THE ITV2 SHOW.

Having ditched the adorably bonkers TPT, ITV2 have replaced her with an Australian trying to do a Russell Brand BBBM thing and Kelly Osbourne Leigh Francis in a Bo Selecta mask. Inept isn't the word.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 13 November 2006 22:43 (nineteen years ago)

Australian Russell Brand just said "Myleene Klass? So hot, I would do her in front of her mum."

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 13 November 2006 22:47 (nineteen years ago)

Argh, Toby Anstis in the shower! MINE EYES!!

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 13 November 2006 22:49 (nineteen years ago)

I think I may not put on this ITV2 show much more due to Aussie Russell Brand plus Kelly Osborne who is the worst TV presenter ever (apart from her mum). Bring back Tara!

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 13 November 2006 22:51 (nineteen years ago)

Also Faith Brown's breasts are ENORMOUS!

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 13 November 2006 22:54 (nineteen years ago)

Haha, I just came to the same conclusion about Faith Brown.

More worrying was the revelation that Ant & Dec have been watching Jan Leeming in the shower.

I hadn't read who was going to be in it (or hadn't paid attention when other people like ailsa told me) and mistook Lauren Booth for Lauren Harries at first. Which is kind of awkward.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 13 November 2006 22:58 (nineteen years ago)

Lauren Harries would be amazing telly. The campaign to get her on CBB starts here (since I don't think my last brilliant idea of getting David Hasslehoff is going to work).

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 13 November 2006 23:02 (nineteen years ago)

Sheree Murphy's "this has ruined my career and I didn't even win anything" schtick - boo hoo hoo.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 13 November 2006 23:03 (nineteen years ago)

How big are Myleene Klass' nipples in the vote clip where she's tying back her hair? Jeebus, you could hang a hammock off them. I'm scared.

Dang, I'll have to watch this now.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Monday, 13 November 2006 23:06 (nineteen years ago)

I bet we don't get to see that clip again now.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 13 November 2006 23:12 (nineteen years ago)

aldo's right, it was geniunely scary. i flinched.

Also Faith Brown's breasts are ENORMOUS!

how dead-tree media works, #256 in a rapidly diminishing series: the other night a load of copy from the diary got spiked at the last minute, so one of my colleagues put in a massive cutout of faith brown (who was mentioned in passing) and wham: problem solved. embonpoint as page-filling solution: gotta be a winner.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Monday, 13 November 2006 23:17 (nineteen years ago)

Reading all the celebs' blurbs on the badly-spelled ITV website, what's with all the "I hate spiders, the dark, heights, creepy-crawlies" etc. Do you even *know* what show you're on, morons?

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 13 November 2006 23:21 (nineteen years ago)

David Gest is such an annoying twat.

C J (C J), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 10:01 (nineteen years ago)

Hahahaha

Cherie Blair's sister is the worst wigga imaginable. She has just declared Footballer's Wives Woman her "sista 'n' ting" because they have heard the same reggae song.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:58 (nineteen years ago)

Outdone, possibly, by Jason Donovan singing Bonnie Tyler's "Hero" to David Guest for doing the task DESPITE ONLY KNOWING THE WORD 'HERO' IN IT.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 23:04 (nineteen years ago)

Controversial opinion ahoy:

David Gest seems to be an OK bloke. I'm more amazed everyone else had him down as some sort of freak without really knowing him at all. OK, you don;t have to like him, but he does seem, ahem, normal.

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 08:26 (nineteen years ago)

I'm not sure there's any controversy there Mark. I suspect he'll be favourite to win within the week.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 08:41 (nineteen years ago)

I like David Gest a little more now and thought he did okay in his Bush Tucker Trial, though his constant whining about "I'm 53 years old, I need to eat sugar!" was a bit annoying.

C J (C J), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 08:44 (nineteen years ago)

So, get your bet on now, he's mad rank outsider right now.

It seems Matt is getting ready to BLOW, Bigtime!

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 08:44 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, Davis Gest's not nearly as ghastly as I feared, he seems quite self-aware at least. He should probably stop making knowing jokes about his arriage soon, though. Lauren's a bit of a self-regarding prick, isn't she?

Where sis this Scott character come from?

chap who would dare to welcome our new stingray masters (chap), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 13:02 (nineteen years ago)

Lauren said that Tony was leaving in January! She said it twice, very authoritatively, and then starting faffing about saying "no, I don't mean January, I mean March, or April, or next year sometime".

January, eh?

C J (C J), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 13:05 (nineteen years ago)

no tara-palmer, for shame.

benrique (Enrique), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 13:15 (nineteen years ago)

Latest Betting:

Jason Donovan 5 - 2
Myleene Klass 3 - 1
David Gest 7 - 2
Toby Anstis 4 - 1
Matt Willis 7 - 1
Faith Brown 9 - 1
Lauren Booth 33 - 1
Scott Henshall 33 - 1
Jan Leeming 33 - 1
Phina Oruche 66 - 1

So, too late for yr Gest bet.
(I did have a passing "33/1?" thought on DGest, should have gone for it.

David Gest brings the TRUTH about his best friend Wacko (whilst name-dropping Levi Stubbs and Stevie Wonder), also leads Jason Donovan in a sing-song of, erm, songs from musicals. And he used to be married to Liza Minnelli. Who'da thunk he'd have been into musicals, eh?
