Our governor and first lady have to move out of the governor's mansion into a regular old 7000 sq ft mansion soon. its tough, its heartbreaking, but luckily the local news media assure us that gift registries have been set up so that you, like the people of arkansas, can help by buying he and the mrs the bare essentials for survival.
Even governors need holiday themed china, people!

you guys are crazy. mansions!

BC's premier(equiv. to governor) from '95-'99 stayed in his little bungalow in east vancouver the entire time he was in office, and is still there today! we don't really go for pomp here.

federally, we have houses for the prime minister(24 sussex dr.), leader of the opposition(stornoway), the governor general(rideau hall), and the speaker(forget the name of this). they are all very old and ast least 24 sussex is falling apart. they have to cover the sun room with tarpaulins to keep rain from getting in. it is apparently incredibly drafty.

why do you think we want to shut down our borders?

THe Huckabees did right by going with homegrown Dillard's, but where's the love for Wally*World? By going with fancy schmancy Tar'-zhey, I think it's pretty obvious that our soon-to-be-former governor has lost touch with the common man.

haha, Gordon Campbell certainly seemed a pomp kinda guy when he got arrested in Maui for drinking/driving.

then again, Gordon eats B.C.'s babies... so he doesn't really count.

i like that the Huckabee's only want 23 glasses. Is that to insure a guest count ...or not?

When the governor dies, the state bird falls from its branch.

haha, gordo brings his own pomp as he is of the moneyed class. it's all him, though, not the office - i recall harcourt('91-'95) was quite humble as well. bill vander zalm('86-'91), however, lived in a CASTLE in the middle of a theme park called FANTASY GARDENS! oh man, did that guy ever write his own punchlines.

our last mayor took the bus to city hall, which was nice.

i remember my aunt from arizona telling me that there was some sort of controversy surrounding their governor's mansion. i think the newly elected governor(janet napolitano, in her 1st term) refused to live in the mansion, sparking a big debate around tradition and fiscal responsibility etc. etc. she was just reelected, so i assume she weathered the storm alright.

Actually thats: When the governer's heart fails
