hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 21:45 (nineteen years ago)

y'know maybe i should've done this before the brits went to sleep. oh well.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 21:50 (nineteen years ago)

Thursday the 7th then?

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 21:53 (nineteen years ago)

i have a hankering to try the Edgar Wallace but i shall let the steering ctte. decide

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 21:55 (nineteen years ago)

i think that works. i might have some work boozin' going on in which case i'll just invite you nutters to whatever pub we go to, probably somewhere near and/or on alma road.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 21:56 (nineteen years ago)

yay! this time i will be around!

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:01 (nineteen years ago)

Alma st in kentish town?

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:02 (nineteen years ago)

i will be in London a month later

gbx (skowly), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:03 (nineteen years ago)

alma road, i know it's west? at least i think it is? i have no idea.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:05 (nineteen years ago)

Interesting, could it be the one in southall? near the canal? In which case currytastic

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:09 (nineteen years ago)

southall is far :(

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:11 (nineteen years ago)

i srsly have no idea. i thought it was west but maybe i'm confusing it with portobello road.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:11 (nineteen years ago)

Could be, that sounds more likely as a place of business than 50m of residential st by the canal in southall.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:14 (nineteen years ago)

there are SIX alma roads in the AZ -- we probbly need to narrow this down a bit!

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:16 (nineteen years ago)

britishes be commemoratin battles

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:17 (nineteen years ago)

with very short roads

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:18 (nineteen years ago)

also a crescent, a grove, three places, a row, three streets and two terraces -- and a "ho"? is that "house"?

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:22 (nineteen years ago)

That'll teach the russians not to do it again.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:24 (nineteen years ago)

Also, an avenue.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:26 (nineteen years ago)

they don't need to do it again, they still own it from the last time!

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:27 (nineteen years ago)

and a close!

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:28 (nineteen years ago)

stence, if you are boozing on portobello road (lots of good pubs there), do not forget to visit the original rough trade store on talbot i think

songs and ballads of the bituminous miners (sanskrit), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:29 (nineteen years ago)

i don't think i'll be on portobello, unfortunately.

i want to go to that big vinyl store in croydon that's closing!

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 22:35 (nineteen years ago)

LDN manpile!

i've dreamt of rubies! (Mandee), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 23:23 (nineteen years ago)

hopefully some girls will be there too, mandee.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 14 November 2006 23:33 (nineteen years ago)

What about America-to-London transplants who annoy you on Comets/Creedence threads and know your ex-roomate?

Tiki Theater Xymposium (Bent Over at the Arclight), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 00:01 (nineteen years ago)

hey man i'm down for anyone to get a drink if they want! you're certainly welcome to come.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 00:04 (nineteen years ago)

Mystery FAP Crimea!

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 11:34 (nineteen years ago)

Alma, Crimea River!

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 11:35 (nineteen years ago)

Hstencil - you mean BEANOS! Beanos is fab, it is in Croydon which I heart more than almost anything - the trams! Beanos! IKEA! The weigh and measure shop! It's certainly better than, er, Southall, which might be a bit of an unlikely FAP venue.

So what about the Union Tavern?

Bhumibol Adulyadej (Lucretia My Reflection), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 11:39 (nineteen years ago)

Everybody be there the day after, no?

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 11:40 (nineteen years ago)

I've been to the Edgar Wallace, it's a decent enough boozer but not good for a FAP - "deceptively pokey" is right. I think I can make this though.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 11:41 (nineteen years ago)

Let me know when it is all decided, and I will try to turn up - if my sister doesn't drag me off for St00g3s mentalism. Sorry, Stence, I'd rather hang out with Ron than you unless you let me run my fingers through your beard.

Little Star of Bedlam (kate), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 11:42 (nineteen years ago)

See also, "table service"!

Bhumibol Adulyadej (Lucretia My Reflection), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 11:43 (nineteen years ago)

Oh wait, we have a gig on the 6th December!!!

At the Pamphlet Xmas party at the Social, hosted by the lovely Anna-Marie who is not an ILX0r but might as well be.

Little Star of Bedlam (kate), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 11:44 (nineteen years ago)

Ed - the Edgar Wallace is OK but a fairly typical lawyery Temple pub. The Cheshire Cheese (as distinct from the Olde Cheshire Cheese a couple of hundred yeards away) is a nicer boozer.

Stence, looking forward to seeing you on the 7th, wherever it turns out to be. Don't be too worried by the closure of Beano's in Croydon, by the way. It was kinda pricey.

xpost, this now rendered irrelevant but I'm going to post it anway.

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 11:45 (nineteen years ago)

is it the alma road in wandsworth? near the roundabout/beggars banquet record label?

i am not a nugget (stevie), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 11:47 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah but I got the Plastic Bertrand album there (and Heaven 17 and Strawberry Switchblade and Durutti Column and and and). For some reason those particular albums weren't so expensive - I wonder why eh.

Bhumibol Adulyadej (Lucretia My Reflection), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 11:49 (nineteen years ago)

is it the alma road in wandsworth? near the roundabout/beggars banquet record label?

that is why i will be over there, as i work for beggars. this is half work trip, sorta.

kate i'm seeing the stooges at atp. are they playing in london too?

also i shaved off my beard last saturday but it should be on the way back by the time i get to london.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 15:40 (nineteen years ago)

Can we have a beard-off at ATP?

teh_kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 15:42 (nineteen years ago)

I don't know yet. Actually, I should ask my sisX0r if she is still coming as it is getting close.

WANDSWORTH?!?!? SARF LONDON FAP!!!

Little Star of Bedlam (kate), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 15:44 (nineteen years ago)

wandsworth is south -- centralish (almost) tho below the river

it is way more reachable than southall (except for jel maybe) (or the full-on easterlings)

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 15:45 (nineteen years ago)

Kate's SisXor ROXXX. I was telling some rock chicks the story of our curry evening last night, while we were all getting pished at an art film premiere after-drinkies.

I was going to say: Alma Road in the SW18 is probably best for K, Mark C and Dr. C but very few others. Alma is good though, as pubs go.

Stence I believe I know yr. boss, if his name starts w/G.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 15:49 (nineteen years ago)

beats me, i don't understand y'all's crazy city.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 15:50 (nineteen years ago)

i have many bosses, none of whom have names that start with g. the main boss is mr. m@rt!n m!ll$ of course. he's a treat.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 15:50 (nineteen years ago)

Depending on your other commitments, a Waterloo FAP might be the way forward.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 15:51 (nineteen years ago)

I am thinking of a small man initials GW who used to run W111JA over here.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 16:05 (nineteen years ago)

i might come along to this...

You've Got Scourage On Your Breath (Haberdager), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 16:10 (nineteen years ago)

Matt is making a sensible suggestion here.

Stence, will be good to meet you - finally.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 16:16 (nineteen years ago)

ah that label doesn't really exist any more.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 16:16 (nineteen years ago)

I am trying to remember if Sarah and Rich (friends of Emsk and I) still work there... I would imagine they'd be up for FAPing.

Little Star of Bedlam (kate), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 16:20 (nineteen years ago)

I don't know your boss. In fact, I don't even know you. I do however, know Wandsworth (I have seen it from passing trains, it is okay-ish for me but eff knows where you'd booze round there)! But hey, if the MUSIC BIZ lives there it must be COOL eh?

Bhumibol Adulyadej (Lucretia My Reflection), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 16:21 (nineteen years ago)

Wandsworth = the wrong SIDE of Sarf Landaan, though... ;-)

You've Got Scourage On Your Breath (Haberdager), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 16:22 (nineteen years ago)

if by rich you mean publicist rich, yeah he's actually in charge of publicity now!

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 16:22 (nineteen years ago)

i should've realised the Alma Road after seeing it on the back of so many XL 12"s years ago.

2 american 4 u (blueski), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 16:22 (nineteen years ago)

waterloo is a good compromise (which is sort of what i meant by "reachable")

the music biz lives everywhere starry -- like rats you are never more than 10ft from em

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 16:23 (nineteen years ago)

actually the xl office is elsewheres!

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 16:24 (nineteen years ago)

aw mark s. y u brake heart.

there's some pub across the street from the beggars office, not sure what it's callled tho. i'll probably be there all week.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 16:25 (nineteen years ago)

Yes, that is exactly the Rich I mean. Do you know his partner Sarah? She's v. v. lovely.

Little Star of Bedlam (kate), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 16:27 (nineteen years ago)

suzy - isn't GW at domino now?

i am not a nugget (stevie), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 16:29 (nineteen years ago)

i dunno sarah i don't think. rich is awesome tho. got drunk with him back in september.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 16:34 (nineteen years ago)

Stence - I *know* GW's old label doesn't exist as such no more. Sheesh.

Stevie - yes, it was a conflation between Domino and a Beggars subdivision. Are you coming to Political Writing next week?

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 16:39 (nineteen years ago)

rich is good times!

Are you coming to Political Writing next week?

i do not know what that is! what is it?

i am not a nugget (stevie), Wednesday, 15 November 2006 16:52 (nineteen years ago)

Translate 'political writing' into Italian, Stevie, and try not to hide yr blushes.

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 16 November 2006 16:01 (nineteen years ago)

i still gotta ask someone around here the name of the damn pub but they're all in a meeting.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 16 November 2006 16:12 (nineteen years ago)

aHA! i didn't know he was playing! if i can make it i definitely shall, i interviewed green a couple of months ago and promised to make him a CD (which i of course have yet to do)

i am not a nugget (stevie), Thursday, 16 November 2006 16:15 (nineteen years ago)
