I walked by with the confrontation already in progress, but some choice lines overheard and paraphrased.
A: "yeah, REALLY great way to get into the holiday spirit by rushing in front of people"
B: "you call it rushing. I call it regular motion. Move some limbs next time"
A: "you think you will get away with this, don't you"
B: "You're not getting this, if you're even contemplating it"
A: "Look, fine, I'll live, but I just wanted to point out how rude it was to cut in front of m...
B: [interrupting]"OH... KAY.... I got to this item before you did. This means I get to claim it. You don't claim it. Basic. Logical. Bitch if you have a problem with this, then I suggest you get a clue on life. You have about 20 Tofurkeys to choose from"
A: "I'm NOT getting a Tofurkey"
B: "Then call around and try another place"
A: "I.. DID"
B: "Call again bitch, I'm done"
....
what makes this more amusing is that Woman A is in her late 30s, and Woman B was in her late 50s.
ONLY WHEN IT COMES TO SOY MEAT
Welcome to my fucking neighborhood.
Plenty of Tofurkeys and, ur, regular turkeys remain. Enjoy.

I loved the "fabulous" view of Manhattan from whatever new observation deck - it was a screen full of FOG! Beautiful.

Oh come on, this was an isolated incident.. this could have easily happened at a QFC over a certain brand of rubbing alcohol
Do you really avoid places because some customers think you're plebeian? That's just really odd.

You are correct that this extreme version of bad behavior doesn't occur often, however my point still stands: The customers have an elitist attitude that I find unbearable, though not directed at me.
And yes, I avoid places that I don't like. Granted, I avoid shopping in general because... it is unpleasant.

Nickels Bait & Switch?
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2008185758_webmusictax17m.html
Live music venues in Seattle should get a tax break, Mayor GregNickels said today.
As part of his budget proposal, Nickels intends to exempt clubs thathold fewer than 1,000 people from paying an admissions tax, which is 5percent of every dollar of ticket sales. If the City Council approvesthe tax break, city revenues would be cut by $300,000, the mayor'soffice estimated.
Nickels did not say that clubs were suffering more than otherbusinesses from the economic downturn but called music and nightlife apriorities for him.
"Our musicians are part of our identity as a city," Nickels said at anews conference at Neumo's, a club on Capitol Hill. "With theseinitiatives, I look forward to building our reputation."
Nickels' administration has had a tough relationship with thenightclub industry in recent years.
The mayor cited his work establishing an Office of Film and Music andgetting rid of the teen-dance ordinance. But he has also taken stepsto close clubs after violent incidents, and last fall Seattle policeconducted an undercover sting operation on underage drinking atseveral bars and clubs.
Steven Severin, one of Neumo's owners, said the tax break would allowhis musicians to collect a larger percentage of ticket sales.
"This is destined to put more money into the pockets of musicians," he said.
The mayor's office estimates 65 venues could take advantage of the taxbreak. Clubs that have a capacity of fewer than 1,000 people, presentlive music three times a week and hire 16 musicians a week wouldqualify.
The mayor expects to present his budget proposal Sept. 29.
