anthony, Friday, 8 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Moi aussi.

Kim, Friday, 8 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Small and colonial. I liked looking at the scarvies and hats. Top points to Germany for Star Wars outfits, North Korea hats and who was it that had the bright blue jackets with fluffy cuffs. Fashion not sport. Bring on the ice skating..

ducklingmonster, Saturday, 9 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Asses is an interesting word. Here it would be used to refer to multiple small-horsey, donkey type creatures. We call human bums arses. It's funny that we choose to use the word with the extra "r" in it when it is mostly American (and Canadian?) people who pronounce words with extra "r's" in them.

I LOVE the winter olympics. The figure skating mostly, and the skiing down hill with those flags. And the lycra. Especially the lycra.

toraneko, Saturday, 9 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

what i love most about the winter olympics is the risk of personal injury and death - it makes them far more itneresting than the summer ones..bring on the lugeeee

goeff, Saturday, 9 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Do we have a chance in the curling?

Ally C, Saturday, 9 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

To make the luge even sillier they now have its equivalent where you go down hill head first.

Now if only we could get rid of ice dancing as a sport.

Mr Noodles, Saturday, 9 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

uk's best hope is in the aforementioned headfirst luge, or SKELLINGTON to give it it's proper name, haven't heard mention of the curling, so i guess we've dropped down the rankings a bit. apparently the skeleton has been banned (or at least not in the olympics) for 54 years due to it being only something NUTTERS would want to do, and ppl dying and stuff.

CarsmileSteve, Saturday, 9 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I bet some of you don't even like sports.....slobb ass bandwagoniers....probably like it for the "populist pageantry" or some such safely removed arty shit.....yall can die.....haha Im just playing.

I just watched the women's freestyle skiing event (which looks very difficult). The cute canadian girl with buck teeth should have won by far (she came fourth) - she qualified really early so the judges gave her a good score but not as good as she deserved so they could 'make room' for the later-running top qualifiers.....still, it pissed me off....some corny norwegian girl with a big burger king forehead won instead. So let's talk Olympians I wanna fuck.... In the same event, #1 american qualifier was Hannah Hardaway. Let me tell you, that's a bad pic but trust me this girl has got the most adorable face and the BUBBLICIOUS ASS. I mean ideal thickness: tall, 140 cornfed pounds in all the right places, dig?...not dumpy thick wit da manly witch-face like most athlete ATHLETE chix...I'm talking cute thick....like the drummer girl from the WHite Stripes...bomb diggity with big tiggities....let me drink the milk out them shits ya monkey....I swear, that's all I need in life, babyface hoosier athlete dame with SIr-Mix-A-Lot booty on my jock, hard funky beats every Friday at parties with familiar hairdos, intermittent Chinese food, daily Tony Hawk Proskater 3.....I'm set. Word to muff.....put on some makeup for once in your life girl, bring that fat ass over here and hop on my Wooooo00000000ooooo!!!!

Ramosi, Red Beans & Rice Mothafokka!!, Saturday, 9 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

another pic. I can't find a pic of her on the net that shows her ass, though.....curses....trust me, its large and splendid

Rotund Preference Ramosi, Saturday, 9 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Post of the fucking year. My God. My God. plus he speaks for All Mankind.

JM, Saturday, 9 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm gonna keep posting to this thread until all on ILX have read Ramosi's post.

JM, Sunday, 10 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I too heart the Winter Olympics; few smug (tax funded) Aussie athletes blighting the TV coverage, and our only medal chances normally end up face first in the snow. Plus, like, real snow. On a summer's day its nice to imagine a real winter one day arriving.

charles m, Sunday, 10 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I like Australia's outfits because they looked like Gilligan - white bucket hat, red shirt. If only other countries had followed their lead!

Nicole, Sunday, 10 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

That Swiss guy who won the gold in ski jumping today -- anyone catch him at the award ceremony part of the NBC broadcast? He looked like Anthony Michael Hall in a Ziggy Stardust winter duster! My new hero.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

and hes a 21 yr old uni student who has been recovering from a concusion .

anthony, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Turns out Hannah is going to be on M TV Diary this week....and she isn't that tall at all....5'7 140....now that's the thickness I can get with....I hope to death she wears for MTV the exact same outfit as the girls in WU-Tang's ICE CREAM video.......butter pecan choklit DELUXE.....can I get a soul clap? A witness even? back it UP

Ramosi, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Watch for NZ's male downhill skier whose name I can't spell. This's something like his 4th Olympics & I don't think he's completed a run yet. "Face down in the snow"? That's his MOVE.

AP, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The Winter Olympics is fun because we have Roy & HG. I'm not sure if other countries have similar guys on telly but these two do a daily wrap-up where they totally take the piss out of everything. They are hilarious - especially when it comes to the figure skating.

toraneko, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Are they the blokes on Triple J on a Saturday afternoon? I seem to remember them being rather funny when I was over there. We don't have piss-takers, we have Steve Cram and .. oh cripes I can't remember her name, shagged Cliff Richard... Sue Barker, that's it. I think.

chris, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

But nobody else has Garth Crooks. He was woefully wonderful yesterday.

Jonnie, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Has anyone here evah been on a luge? Is there any skill to it apart from being a nut?

AP, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think there's a certain amount of learning how to shift your body weight when going into turns and that sort of thing. Should be top fun tho if my experiences of lying on my skateboard and bombing down very steep hills as a teenager are anything to go by.

RickyT, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's all about being Georg Hackl and drinking half of Bavaria dry while still winning medals. Tonight's madness -- the attack of Picabo Street! And can I just say that the ridgetop start of the downhill makes for one spectacular view?

Useful if obvious discovery last night -- the Olympics are much more entertaining when watching coverage while playing music instead of listening to the audio feed. Man or Astroman? made perfect sense for the men's downhill coverage.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Aw, but imagine how annoyed you'd be if you missed the commentary team crying out "Man... OR ASTROMAN???!!!" after a particularly spectacular ski jump?

N., Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It worked there too. I plan on replacing all figure skating music with early jungle, Chemical Brothers and the Prodigy.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

My Bloody Valentine and Curling.

jel, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

how do you feel

you crazy canucks can have your snow games. and your moose.

Samantha, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ned, you should replace the figure-skating music with Sisters Of Mercy and The Mission.

Dan Perry, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Both of those *could* work...but I'm a bit leery of Wayne at his worst groaning things like "Let sleeeeping dooogs DIIIIIIIIIE!" over the visuals. Mind you, kicking a routine off with "I still believe in god, but god no longer believes in me" followed with that build-up into the main part of the song would be good fun.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

memorable ice-skating music: search and destroy

Tracer Hand, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Paul Wylie did a great routine in 1992 that won him the silver with the music from Branagh's Henry V. Phillipe Candeloro, though, as in so many other things, is The Man -- The Godfather one time, one of the Three Musketeers remakes another. He always threw himself bodily into the performances, god bless 'im.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Elvis Stojko doing it to the theme from DRAGON: THE BRUCE LEE STORY. I loved that movie as a kid, I LOVED the music.....probably one of the most underrated movie scores ever....I used to own the soundtrack and I loved playfighting to the fast intense battle bits with my friends....I'd get carried away and hurt niggaz for real...it's that good.....the main theme was used by at least 20 other movies for their trailer music....I remember that axe kicks to the torso when your opponent is down hurt (them) the most.....Lauren Holly was so hot in DRAGON I was tempted IN THE THEATER to attempt the on-the- jeans "palm pressure" method to bust a nut (I've done it before)

Ramosi, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Agreed on Candeloro. That guy was the definition of machismo.....Razor Ramon had nothing on him......I remember our family would be watching events with Candeloro in them and when he started flinging his shirt off my mom would do the "yow!" laugh/swoon and my father, humorless, hypocritical, unsubtle asshole he is, would just cluck his tongue and sneer bitterly into space.....

Ramosi, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ok, I am seriously pissed. Sale and Pelletier were robbed. Poor kids.

Kim, Monday, 11 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ok, I am seriously pissed. Sale and Pelletier were robbed. Poor kids.

UNGHHH....same here. I'm this close to getting carried away....I don't really have a 'genteel' reputation here to say the least, so what the hey, right about now I feel like taking a boxcutter and sock full of pennies to the Pole & Chino judges...I seriously would, too.....word up. Right now, more than the cure for cancer, or why the sky is blue or why we park in driveways and drive in parkways, I want to know exactly what was going through the stupid bastard heads of those judges.... thankfully there's controversy and everything is TAINTED so everyone will remember the way it should have been....everyone knows....I like how the Russians were cool as hell about it and kept shaking their heads and shrugging as if gesturing to Sale and Pell. that they agreed shit was rotten in denmark - they aren't to blame at all.....so that's Jennifer Heil, Danny Kass & Heikki Sorsa, Sale & Pelltier, all fucked over.....I'm telling you this shit is crooked as a barrel of snakes....I'm so pissed off I just quoted Jackie Brown......Sale is beautiful, not like that Sailor Moon fisheye Russian hoe...oh yeah, oh yeah, it's not her fault......man, I'm gonna go punch a stranger in the head right about now

Ramosi, Tuesday, 12 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

> ( or CANADA WILL KICK YOUR ANGLO/AMERICAN ASSES)

Canadian speedskater favoured for gold FACE DOWN IN THE ICE.

AP, Tuesday, 12 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Heikki Sorsa

My new favorite of the games. The Keith Flint of snowboarding.

Sale is beautiful, not like that Sailor Moon fisheye Russian hoe

On this, I have to vociferously agree. And yeah, Wotherspoon taking a spill as well = bad news for the Canucks.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 12 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Local commentator's intro to highlights from the snowboard half-pipe, "so beloved of those Generation X teenagers swaying to their rock music." Nice one, mate.

AP, Tuesday, 12 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Why is snowboarding in the olympics but skateboarding isnt?

Kris, Tuesday, 12 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Image problems.

RickyT, Tuesday, 12 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hell, why isn't surfing in the Olympics? Or wait, is it now finally in?

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 12 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

So who's this Michael Weiss skater? And why isn't he a model if he's not one already?

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 12 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And Yevgeny Plushenko officially has the most distressing hairstyle yet.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 13 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Costume of the night -- Alexander Abt and his KISS get-up.

And so this isn't all about figure skating for today -- farewell to Picabo. Always liked her, even if both her medals in past Olympics almost seemed like accidents in ways.
