Hail Angelina Jolie full of grace

Hmmm. As talked about briefly here and doubtless elsewhere.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 4 January 2007 16:17 (eighteen years ago)

I just don't understand. I've never heard rumors that her face or body are fake, she's never claimed or tried to be a Hollywood nice girl who makes good (or even a bad girl who reforms for your approval) and seems to pretty much not give a shit about what's said of her. The worst criticism I can think of is that she made Tomb Raider. Leave the woman alone.

Laurel (Laurel), Thursday, 4 January 2007 16:25 (eighteen years ago)

van art is rad

my tolerance for 'pop-culture' writers/critics who write stuff like this and say things like See, I pride myself on being a highly creative person is at an all-time low right now. i mean, hardly there at all.

rrrobyn, breeze blown meadow of cheeriness (rrrobyn), Thursday, 4 January 2007 16:31 (eighteen years ago)

it is a terrible painting. whatever it's trying to do. the end.

benrique (Enrique), Thursday, 4 January 2007 16:34 (eighteen years ago)

i think she looks exactly like she did when she was a kid. unless she had collagen when she was 8.

ian johnson's mom + jack bauer 2gether 4evah (Carey), Thursday, 4 January 2007 16:35 (eighteen years ago)

yeah nothing worse than a highly-creative-and-proud-of-it type.

reverto levidensis (blueski), Thursday, 4 January 2007 16:35 (eighteen years ago)

you know what i mean

rrrobyn, breeze blown meadow of cheeriness (rrrobyn), Thursday, 4 January 2007 16:37 (eighteen years ago)

the highly-creative-and-proud-of-it type are my favorites. it's actually very considerate of them to let you know that they are, in fact, highly-creative because if they didn't hip you to that fact you probably would never be able to tell otherwise.

chicago kevin (chicago kevin), Thursday, 4 January 2007 16:37 (eighteen years ago)

I like the Cokes fridge.

kingfish prætor (kingfish 2.0), Thursday, 4 January 2007 16:38 (eighteen years ago)

the painting is odd. the article is awful.

lex pretend (lex pretend), Thursday, 4 January 2007 16:38 (eighteen years ago)

jennifer aniston on the cover of the US magazine in the racks, bottom right

i am not a nugget (stevie), Thursday, 4 January 2007 16:40 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah another vote in for the not-fake crowd, her lips have always been enormous. Also she seems like a nice, genuine person. However that painting is pretty much an abomination.

Allyzay Eisenschefter Pop You To The Extreme (allyzay), Thursday, 4 January 2007 16:41 (eighteen years ago)

jennifer aniston on the cover of the US magazine in the racks, bottom right

haha!

i read somewhere recently that paris hilton was asked what item of clothing could she recommend for people to wear every year and never be out of fashion; apparently she snarked back "a team aniston t-shirt".

lex pretend (lex pretend), Thursday, 4 January 2007 16:44 (eighteen years ago)

does anyone else kind of giggle a wtf whenever they see aniston hug the cancer girl (or some other charity, I can never focus) on that commercial. maybe i am just evil.

ian johnson's mom + jack bauer 2gether 4evah (Carey), Thursday, 4 January 2007 16:51 (eighteen years ago)

I kind of get a little WTFy about that too to be honest, though not giggly. More like "Damn that little girl is going to die and they're also forcing her to hang out with Jennifer Aniston? God is cruel."

Allyzay Eisenschefter Pop You To The Extreme (allyzay), Thursday, 4 January 2007 16:55 (eighteen years ago)

i always get the giggles because jolie has the charity kid market cooooornered. Aniston should try to save pandas or something.

ian johnson's mom + jack bauer 2gether 4evah (Carey), Thursday, 4 January 2007 16:58 (eighteen years ago)

Also I hate pandas so those two things deserve each other.

Allyzay Eisenschefter Pop You To The Extreme (allyzay), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:00 (eighteen years ago)

Also, when Jolie adopted the first one she was, like, "Shut up, yes, I'm adopting a child and I'm single, and he's only one year old and already cooler than you. Now bug off and leave us alone."

I kind of love her.

Laurel (Laurel), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:01 (eighteen years ago)

What was the name of that artist that Scott started a thread about last week? He'd've done that painting, but better

Feargal Hixxy (DJ Mencap), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:02 (eighteen years ago)

If the point of the painting is to make art-crit/popcult grads out to be tiny, insignificant, petty self-aggrandizing asswipes who deserve a couple or eight years working retail then it's a fucking victory sweep so far

TOMB07 (TOMBOT), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:02 (eighteen years ago)

Also if the point of the painting is to make me reconsider my stance regarding Angelina Jolie's attractiveness then it also gets the job done

TOMB07 (TOMBOT), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:03 (eighteen years ago)

The painting is rubbish. It looks like the artist painted from an action figure of Ms Jolie, rather than the real thing. The article is reactionary bullshit.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:05 (eighteen years ago)

It isn't a very good rendering of Angelina, really.

Allyzay Eisenschefter Pop You To The Extreme (allyzay), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:07 (eighteen years ago)

i wish it had been done in hair embroidery

rrrobyn, breeze blown meadow of cheeriness (rrrobyn), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:08 (eighteen years ago)

seriously

rrrobyn, breeze blown meadow of cheeriness (rrrobyn), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:08 (eighteen years ago)

the version they shrunk down and leveled off for the article is better than the fullsize one!

TOMB07 (TOMBOT), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:08 (eighteen years ago)

It makes her look like she has a huge head, and a Dick Tracy jaw. She has a pretty strong jaw but she is not Brian Urlacher for heaven's sake.

Allyzay Eisenschefter Pop You To The Extreme (allyzay), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:10 (eighteen years ago)

Oh fuck, that reminds me, I saw some actual hair jewelry at the antique store where I bought my wood type. It was a very long necklace in a complicated crochet-braid with some kind of embellishment or pendent in the middle. I kind of stopped thinking about it as soon as I realized it was made of hair.

Laurel (Laurel), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:10 (eighteen years ago)

I kinda sorta remember reading/hearing that her boobs are fake.

Je4nn3 Fuhfuh (Je4nne Fury), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:12 (eighteen years ago)

Remember when everyone was like "omg she made out with her brother!".

Good times.

stoked for the madness (nickalicious), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:14 (eighteen years ago)

Je4nn3!!!! Hello!

xpost her brother is mad creepy, though, to be fair.

Allyzay Eisenschefter Pop You To The Extreme (allyzay), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:14 (eighteen years ago)

Muchos besos para Allyzay!!

Je4nne Fuhfuh (Je4nne Fury), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:15 (eighteen years ago)

that's pretty creepy. i mean, if say lost in the woods and i cut my finger really badly and had a needle but no thread, i would use hair, but outside of that, it's more in teh realm of meat dresses and dead bunny art.
xpost
haha, yeah, the old days

rrrobyn, breeze blown meadow of cheeriness (rrrobyn), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:16 (eighteen years ago)

Painting is kinda funny, kinda not. Approaching half decent.

Angelina and hair art are both rad.

Article is shitty, smug and contemptible.

Adam Beales (Pye Poudre), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:17 (eighteen years ago)

Je4nn3!!!! Hello!

Yeah, let me echo that! :-) Starting this thread was all worth it if JF is back!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:17 (eighteen years ago)

though 'scary' isn't the word, really. i mostly wonder why it exists, how it was conceived of, from what minds, etc
xpost

rrrobyn, breeze blown meadow of cheeriness (rrrobyn), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:18 (eighteen years ago)

that artist from the sandbox was Brandon Bird, wasn't it?

kingfish prætor (kingfish 2.0), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:22 (eighteen years ago)

I'm a little disappointed in myself that my first post in a long time was about AJ's boobies. So utterly predictable. Sigh. (Hello Mr. Ned!)

Je4nn3 Fuhfuh (Je4nne Fury), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:23 (eighteen years ago)

HI DERE. We could talk about Mudwimmin or something instead (I forget if you were a fan).

YES, it is an egregious error in my opinion. They might look completely different from one another!

Allyzay Eisenschefter Pop You To The Extreme (allyzay), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:28 (eighteen years ago)

does anyone else kind of giggle a wtf whenever they see aniston hug the cancer girl (or some other charity, I can never focus) on that commercial. maybe i am just evil.

it's the way she says "it was a brain tumor" that gets me

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:32 (eighteen years ago)

she's never claimed or tried to be a Hollywood nice girl who makes good

B-b-but she is the very UN ambassador of goodness! ("Will" category.)

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:34 (eighteen years ago)

I mean, the painting scans sensibly to me not because she's the "Madonna of Consumption," but because she seems to have successfully cultivated (or just accrued) this image as an incredibly elegant grand-spirited woman who spends her time alternately saving/adopting the children of the third world and being some kind of classy U.N. emissary like a cross between Princess Diana and the sexy archaeologist from an Indiana Jones movie, all of which is kinda weird when you think back to when she scanned as a Billy-Bob-dating weirdo with a vial of blood around her neck and a creepy relationship with her brother.

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:39 (eighteen years ago)

people can change, dude.

VALLEY OF BLIZZARDZ (Mr.Que), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)

No, she is ambassador of goodness! But, and I freely admit that this is just my impression and not a terribly critical one, she is often wearing some nothing dark Tshirt that won't show dirt and combat pants or something and riding on top of buses with the chickens. No jewelry, no entourage (except now Bard & kids?)...I do not get the 100-watt gleamy smile impression as with other slebs.

Laurel (Laurel), Thursday, 4 January 2007 17:43 (eighteen years ago)

Brad Pitt, he seems like he probably smells terrible.

William Hurt looks like he's pretty hammered too, 'cept he's being all dignified and smilyy about it.

(I bet he smells like sourdough bread)

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Thursday, 4 January 2007 21:54 (eighteen years ago)

Doesn't Jolie spend a big chunk of Life or SOmething Like It lounging around in a Ramones t-shirt? Hot.

"Happy Gilmore." It was Happy Gilmore that Viggo said he likes and has watched more than once. In a show of solidarity, I tried to watch it. Fell asleep. Hah!

Following on several earlier trends in this thread.... Did you know that Viggo was rumored to have broken up Gwenyth and Brad? This was around the time of "A Perfect Murder."

He still finds that funny, and one of my very favorite Viggo quotes said something along the lines of "People always ask about those scenes in A Perfect Murder." But I had some pretty hot stuff with Christopher Walken in "The Prophecy," and nobody asks about that."

I adore Viggo.

Hey Jude (Hey Jude), Friday, 5 January 2007 00:36 (eighteen years ago)

And with "Afternoon Delight" playing in the background.

For example: I'm quite sure Bon Jovi smells of wet cardboard and Madonna must reek of freshly fisted vagina 24/7
