srsly, though, I think it might work as a wishful-thinking satire which morphs (at 'bracing for war') into a full-blown subversion of that idealism, accepting in a final ironic twist that the hawks will prevail.

You've said it very seriously many many times and we all get it by now. THEY JUST LIKE TO FUCK WITH YA HOMIE, and the more sadistic among them enjoy watching you trip over yourself and fume because they think its funny. By moving to fuming and self-defense so quickly you don't do yourself any favors.
