no wii stock

no BG
no booze (well not so much)
need to lose a little of that extra ballast on the tum
no daylight
no prospect of a decent annual increment

you?

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Friday, 5 January 2007 19:27 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, I hate January, hate it entirely. Too long, too dark (and I live near LA and it's STILL too dark too soon). Next year, I swear, I will spend it in Australia and New Zealand.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 5 January 2007 19:37 (nineteen years ago)

no daylight
no BG
no daylight
no heating in house
no pounds left from £10 Christmas bonus (Thanks Tim!)
no daylight
no chance of getting up for 9am exams
no Vitamin D in body.

stet (stet), Friday, 5 January 2007 19:38 (nineteen years ago)

Look, the "no booze" part is yr own problem, I plan to drink my way though the winter and into...well...next winter.

Laurel (Laurel), Friday, 5 January 2007 19:40 (nineteen years ago)

Anyway, there's a long weekend or two and Burns Night, which is good for a laugh and a couple of gigs, and it's better than February so beware!

Laurel (Laurel), Friday, 5 January 2007 19:41 (nineteen years ago)

ILX is back
Imminent improvement in job prospects must surely be close
Heroes and a couple of eps of Studio 60 to catch up on until Lost comes back
Going on holiday next week so shit weather not bothering me
24 back in a couple of weeks (even though it's shit)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 5 January 2007 19:42 (nineteen years ago)

mine seems to be speeding by. First week back at work is incredibly busy.

Ms Misery (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 5 January 2007 19:42 (nineteen years ago)

"no daylight" infuckingdeed

stoked for the madness (nickalicious), Friday, 5 January 2007 19:50 (nineteen years ago)

no New Year's Day...oh wait

reverto levidensis (blueski), Friday, 5 January 2007 19:57 (nineteen years ago)

24 back in a couple of weeks (even though it's shit)

having not seen an episode since s04e01 i have been hankering lately. i want to speed watch series 4 so i can get onto better-sounding series 5 quicker. THEN the new one...

reverto levidensis (blueski), Friday, 5 January 2007 19:59 (nineteen years ago)

Series 4 = aargh, oh noes, terrible
Series 5 = aargh, oh noes, still terrible but not as terrible as Series 4

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 5 January 2007 20:01 (nineteen years ago)

january is massively promising on EVERY imaginable front for me! health remains the only thorn in the side of my month.

lex pretend (lex pretend), Friday, 5 January 2007 20:03 (nineteen years ago)

at least it's like 65 degrees here in ny

false cat (sleep), Friday, 5 January 2007 20:28 (nineteen years ago)

Anniversaries of the deaths and suicides of evryone I know in January. Glah. At least it's warm down here in NM and I don't have to put on 8 layers of clothing to step outside & meditate while I smoke.

Abbott (Abbott), Friday, 5 January 2007 21:39 (nineteen years ago)

"no wii stock"

MWAHAHAHAHAHAH. Here it's speeding by cause, well, we HAVE THE WII. Just kidding, well, sorta cause it isn't speeding by due to my multiple migraine attacks and nauseousness. :-( When January will be over, I'll be going to Japan. I'm a bit... well, nervous really as I'll be taking Ophelia with me!

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Friday, 5 January 2007 21:41 (nineteen years ago)

No decent games for the DS
Supermarket stock all best before last week
Cold
Dark
Windy
Holidays far away

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Friday, 5 January 2007 22:58 (nineteen years ago)

january is good for me this year! hope i don't upset the balance of this thread

large paycheque cos i worked a lot throughout holidays
glimmer of hope at last in nightmare health problems cos of new dr
just had lovely week with my girlfriend
lots of plans and ideas for 2007
maybe even able to drink again and enjoy it...
possible new job

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 5 January 2007 23:04 (nineteen years ago)

glimmer of hope at last in nightmare health problems cos of new dr

I am glad. I don't mind my January being rubbish if it improves someone else's.

(It doesn't work like that)
(Yes I know)

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Saturday, 6 January 2007 08:13 (nineteen years ago)

Good news Ronan!
January crawls, but February is worse. It's like the fakest month. How can you trust a month that doesn't have the same amount of days every year?

aimurchie (aimurchie), Saturday, 6 January 2007 08:33 (nineteen years ago)

Come on, January can't last long enough!

Got a Wii
Got Zelda
Sunny all day
(admittedly, too fucking hot by far)
2 weeks holiday
nothing on tv to have to keep up with
thus, dvds to catch up with
and games
hahahah I love living in Aus

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 6 January 2007 09:23 (nineteen years ago)

yay for new doctor possibly finding a cure. how big is glimmer of hope, ronan?

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Saturday, 6 January 2007 09:25 (nineteen years ago)

what does BG stand for?

apart from big gay?

ken c (ken c), Saturday, 6 January 2007 10:54 (nineteen years ago)

martin robinson?

ken c (ken c), Saturday, 6 January 2007 10:54 (nineteen years ago)

Got a Wii
Got Zelda
Sunny all day

yeah but what's the point of sunny all day if you have a wii and zelda?!?!??!??!?!?1?!?/!?1??!?1/ the ir0ny will eventually crush you!

ken c (ken c), Saturday, 6 January 2007 10:56 (nineteen years ago)

Hell no, having a Wii means you have an excuse to stay in and avoid the obscene heat and sit by the fan/aircon instead.

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 6 January 2007 12:44 (nineteen years ago)

Usually January seems to start off with a bang in one way or another, this year it's blearily emerging into the sunlight, rubbing its eyes. At the moment I feel like I'm standing, looking at my watch going "has the year started yet?" but I fully expect things to be awesome by the end of the month. Mostly because:

- A couple of big parties ahead
- Rosy financial outlook for the first January ever
- Big stag weekend for an old university friend, in my old university town (oh jebus...)
- I'm not off the booze
- I do intend to get lots of sleep though

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 6 January 2007 16:12 (nineteen years ago)

I have NOTHING coming up/planned/booked over the next few weeks/months bar one or two birthday drinks and a trip up to Oxford next weekend. it's actually quite a relief.

reverto levidensis (blueski), Saturday, 6 January 2007 16:14 (nineteen years ago)

To busy so far to notice. I spent the first week working hard in belgium. Week 2 looks busy, week three is holiday and I could be in the indian ocean by week 4.

Ed (dali), Saturday, 6 January 2007 16:16 (nineteen years ago)

Yay, Ronan! I'm gla things are looking up! I haven't had serious sinus problems in almost a month, and I feel like I've accomplished a huge goal, without actually doing anything (well, not drinking tons). Yay!

molly mummenschanz (mollyd), Saturday, 6 January 2007 16:38 (nineteen years ago)

I was thinking, "Wouldn't it be nice if it was spring" yesterday. This has never happened to me before. It's the general lack of inspiration and purpose that's getting to me. Oh, damn, sorry this is borderline emo.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 7 January 2007 10:19 (nineteen years ago)

a glimmer of hope=something finally working a little, and the chance to go back to the dr and say "ok so this helped, now what else can i do?".

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 7 January 2007 16:30 (nineteen years ago)

That's good Ronan.

January 07 looks like this for me:

Impending unemployment (contract runs out in 7.07)
Fights with newish girlfriend over the holidays when everything had looked so bright
No money
Dark before 5pm
Am finding new music / films / books strangely unexciting
At least (in NYC) I've been able to run outside lots without a numb face.

paulhw (paulhw), Monday, 8 January 2007 01:27 (nineteen years ago)

being awake for 36 hours is kind of making it crawl a lot slower.

zombierza (tehresa), Monday, 8 January 2007 02:53 (nineteen years ago)

GO TO SLEEP, T. Xanax.

Laurel (Laurel), Monday, 8 January 2007 02:54 (nineteen years ago)

where do i procure such beauties?

zombierza (tehresa), Monday, 8 January 2007 03:40 (nineteen years ago)

I dunno, ask yer roommate.

Laurel (Laurel), Monday, 8 January 2007 03:45 (nineteen years ago)

Couple things would be nice if they come off in Jan, dont know if they will or not, too difficult to tell. If they dont, is still cool though

Jans kind of aright because you don't really expect anything too much

Storefront Church (688), Monday, 8 January 2007 11:45 (nineteen years ago)

The spur-of-the-moment booking of a last-minute long weekend in Stockholm has cheered me up no end. Roll on Friday!

Mädchen (Madchen), Monday, 8 January 2007 12:02 (nineteen years ago)

yay, ronan, hope the glimmer of hope turns into, i dunno, a BEACON or something.

january still looking rosy for me (not rosy enough that i'm going to write the details here without fearing the JINX), i think what's best is how consistently impressed with myself i have been.

lex pretend (lex pretend), Monday, 8 January 2007 12:18 (nineteen years ago)

what a wonderful sentiment.

the original hauntology blogging crew (Enrique), Monday, 8 January 2007 12:19 (nineteen years ago)

:D

lex pretend (lex pretend), Monday, 8 January 2007 12:24 (nineteen years ago)

I'm looking forward to a trip to London at the end of the month, which is getting closer all the time. Obviously.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Monday, 8 January 2007 12:37 (nineteen years ago)

January seems to have lost its way a little.

Storefront Church (688), Thursday, 18 January 2007 11:51 (nineteen years ago)

It finally seems to be picking up for me.

The Long Grey And Overcast Tea Time Of The Soul (kate), Thursday, 18 January 2007 11:54 (nineteen years ago)

i am not so fond of this january.

more grease in the pianissimo. (tehresa), Thursday, 18 January 2007 13:20 (nineteen years ago)

Usually my favorite month!

-birthday
-vacation/traveling
-dan bell plays in boston every january
-24/am-idol feverpitch begins
-renewal, new resolutions, fresh starts

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Friday, 19 January 2007 17:23 (nineteen years ago)

At least it's been sunny here in SF, if cold. It's the lack of sunlight that usually makes me hate Jan/Feb.

M. White (Miguelito), Friday, 19 January 2007 17:27 (nineteen years ago)

They say it's going to get colder soon! Hooray! January is getting better!

jel -- (jel), Friday, 19 January 2007 17:29 (nineteen years ago)

January has kind of taken a nosedive for me...change is needed. At least it's finally cold and my head feels clear.

Laurel (Laurel), Friday, 19 January 2007 17:30 (nineteen years ago)

What are we drinking, Laurel?

M. White (Miguelito), Friday, 19 January 2007 17:31 (nineteen years ago)

Tho I might break down on Burns Night, there's only so much time I can spend with people older than my parents who're completely literal-minded and there won't be any other booze available.

Laurel (Laurel), Friday, 19 January 2007 17:55 (nineteen years ago)

b-but beer is so good with food!

Ms Misery (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 19 January 2007 17:58 (nineteen years ago)

Scotch/bourbon = hangover

M. White (Miguelito), Friday, 19 January 2007 17:58 (nineteen years ago)

I can't do liquor at all unless it comes in a margarita.

Ms Misery (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 19 January 2007 17:59 (nineteen years ago)

It's not that I don't drink beer, Sam, but I never get drunk on it anymore.

M. White (Miguelito), Friday, 19 January 2007 18:05 (nineteen years ago)

beery drunk is a bit much on the digestion. but I rarely get drunk anymore at all. too hurty on my old head.

Ms Misery (MissMiseryTX), Friday, 19 January 2007 18:09 (nineteen years ago)

I'm getting skinny dude beer belly! Can't decide if this is C/D

Dan I. (Dan I.), Friday, 19 January 2007 18:32 (nineteen years ago)

It's like I am pregnant with a beer baby

Dan I. (Dan I.), Friday, 19 January 2007 18:33 (nineteen years ago)

Skinny dude beer belly = teh cute.

(But I am a big perve so don't listen to me.)

Shoes and Shoegazeability (kate), Friday, 19 January 2007 18:37 (nineteen years ago)

How about skinny dude, beer belly, small beer boobs?

chap (chap), Friday, 19 January 2007 18:39 (nineteen years ago)

What am I, arbiter of cute?

Shoes and Shoegazeability (kate), Friday, 19 January 2007 18:42 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, we had a vote while you were asleep.

chap (chap), Friday, 19 January 2007 18:42 (nineteen years ago)

february might be worse. valentine's day, ick. impossible amounts of work to get done at job. personal life in ruins and no time to fix it. ugh

bell labs (bell_labs), Friday, 19 January 2007 18:47 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah but at least Feb is shorter.

Laurel (Laurel), Friday, 19 January 2007 18:48 (nineteen years ago)

i just want sunlight again.

chicago kevin (chicago kevin), Friday, 19 January 2007 18:49 (nineteen years ago)

March can be pretty rubbish. You think the winter's over then OH NO MORE SHIT WEATHER.

chap (chap), Friday, 19 January 2007 18:49 (nineteen years ago)

true. but it does have an extra day this year!

bell labs (bell_labs), Friday, 19 January 2007 18:50 (nineteen years ago)

oh that was xpost

bell labs (bell_labs), Friday, 19 January 2007 18:50 (nineteen years ago)

This is not a leap year!

February, despite all the nasty VD nastiness in the middle, is just mercilessly short. Also, it's a month with a good week to payday ratio, which is great when you're getting paid monthly.

Shoes and Shoegazeability (kate), Friday, 19 January 2007 18:52 (nineteen years ago)

ha. i thought it was for some reason. well, good!

bell labs (bell_labs), Friday, 19 January 2007 18:55 (nineteen years ago)

Leap years are always even numbered. And divisible by 4. It's a Thing.

Shoes and Shoegazeability (kate), Friday, 19 January 2007 18:57 (nineteen years ago)

so over

Britain's Obtusest Shepherd (Alan), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 12:13 (nineteen years ago)

:(

vita susicivus (blueski), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 12:16 (nineteen years ago)

Warmest since 1916, apparently.

chap (chap), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 14:46 (nineteen years ago)

I think it's been our coldest in decades. The world's going topsy-turvy!

Ms Misery (MissMiseryTX), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 14:47 (nineteen years ago)

Yay to being nearer summer!

Kv_nol (Kv_nol), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 15:07 (nineteen years ago)

eleven months pass...

News just in - January still sucks.

Matt DC, Thursday, 3 January 2008 12:12 (eighteen years ago)

i think it's ok!

i was looking forward to it. full of big things.

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Thursday, 3 January 2008 12:16 (eighteen years ago)

new diet, new exercise regime, rearranging furniture, jol out, weather cold and dry.

what's not to like?

darraghmac, Thursday, 3 January 2008 12:30 (eighteen years ago)

necessary breathing space

blueski, Thursday, 3 January 2008 12:40 (eighteen years ago)

blueski OTM, this is exactly why January was created.

this month, as always, i'll be trying my best not to blow my brains out due to depression. wish me luck !

Ste, Thursday, 3 January 2008 14:01 (eighteen years ago)

whole of britain struck down by norovirus oh god oh god

i think i had its little brother, grateful for small mercies (actually "no projectile vomiting" = quite a big mercy i guess) but being stuck indoors unable to eat for days on end still sucks

i like that there are only a few of us back at work, i feel like it is secret time i can use to catch up

emsk, Thursday, 3 January 2008 14:45 (eighteen years ago)

just made a stupid/costly mistake in the shop: 500 euros down. major sadface

nathalie, Thursday, 3 January 2008 14:50 (eighteen years ago)

january typically blows goats. but it's only the 3rd and it's too early to rank this one -- just hoping my asthma attacks go away soon.

get bent, Thursday, 3 January 2008 14:53 (eighteen years ago)

but being stuck indoors unable to eat for days on end still sucks

yeah, sounds like i had what you had. totally sucks sucks!

Ste, Thursday, 3 January 2008 15:07 (eighteen years ago)

i am terrified of catching the norovirus now

blueski, Thursday, 3 January 2008 15:08 (eighteen years ago)

i think catching it now might not be so bad, it was having it over the festive period while everyone was out grooving on NYE that pissed me off mostly.

it doesn't last long.

Ste, Thursday, 3 January 2008 15:14 (eighteen years ago)

I made sure my boss was aware of the news story in which doctors warned anyone with it not to go into work for 48 hours. Just in case.

Matt DC, Thursday, 3 January 2008 15:24 (eighteen years ago)

yes make sure you highlight the BBC reports; "Very few people follow the advice of staying away from work however due to unsympathetic and often nagging bosses."

Ste, Thursday, 3 January 2008 15:29 (eighteen years ago)

no wii stock

some things never change

sanskrit, Thursday, 3 January 2008 16:00 (eighteen years ago)

i thought i got the norovirus (aka "winter vomiting disease") but it turned out i was only hung over

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 3 January 2008 16:52 (eighteen years ago)

i am so scared of getting this! people are dropping like flies with that stuff

carne asada, Thursday, 3 January 2008 16:54 (eighteen years ago)

arf i had a wii EVEN THEN. i was just being kind and thinking of others.

mario galaxy = roxor btw

Alan, Thursday, 3 January 2008 17:00 (eighteen years ago)

January fucking blows. Its like the Monday of months, only this month, with the bar exam at the end of February, January is like the Worst Hits compilation of Sunday and Monday - all the stress and anticipation/dread that is associated with Sunday, and all the hard work and catch-up feeling that goes along with Monday.

Seriously. Fuck January. Just gotta keep my head down and work through it.

B.L.A.M., Thursday, 3 January 2008 17:33 (eighteen years ago)

x-post totally. I love mario galaxy. it is so easy. games are too hard normally, well, for somebody who is crap at them like me.

Ronan, Thursday, 3 January 2008 17:38 (eighteen years ago)

i got a wii. i should have gotten x box, there's only baby games for wii

the galena free practitioner, Thursday, 3 January 2008 21:13 (eighteen years ago)

You should find some babies and let them play them!

HI DEAR, Thursday, 3 January 2008 21:16 (eighteen years ago)

Babies like fun.

HI DEAR, Thursday, 3 January 2008 21:16 (eighteen years ago)
