Most private railways depend on 1960s coaches, and a lot have special events featuring heritage diesels.

No - that also applies to some National Rail Network routes such as Fort William - Mallaig and York - Scarborough. Most main lines have steam specials or (more commonly) heritage diesel specials on a fairly regular basis, too.
