not sure how many people will know the name, but he was a fascinating man whose children's books were beautiful; whose political cartoons were scabrous; and whose computer game was, apparently, a big hit with conspiracy theorists.

a heartbreaking story: cartoonist and wife found dead in home.

it truly is a heartbreaking story. he used to be the front man of a 'cajun punk' band called swamptrash in the late 80's who were a bit of a sensation in edinburgh and gave me many a great, drunken night's entertainment. rest in peace harry.

Oh no, that's horribly sad! We're just getting into his kids' books in our house too, and yes, very beautiful books indeed.

Mate of Mark Burgess of the Chameleons it would seem.

Sort of weird reading 'Little Rabbit Goes to School' to my two year old over the weekend. It's one of Bill's major favourites, and it gets read a whole heck of a lot in our house (and not just by virtue of it *not* being a Thomas the Tank Engine story). In fact, we'd just ordered a bunch of more Harry Horse books from Amazon last week for his 3rd birthday. Really sad sitting reading this story to a child and trying to share the warmth and joy but just feeling majorly bummed out. Hmmm. Anyhow, obit in the Independent:
