I've always loved the form factor of miniddisc, it's a shame - as per usual - Sony's licensing fucked up its chances.

Users can now revive their old mini disc libraries as digital music by uploading music to the PC

pardon mr thicko here but are they saying it will do this without having to record it via realtime playback? if so me want (i've not kept up with MD so if you could do this already like four years ago then cool)

vita susicivus (blueski), Thursday, 18 January 2007 15:35 (nineteen years ago)

I belive that is correct V. Susicivus. No sitting there at the computer for an hour, SET IT AND FORGET IT!

I do remember vaguely a fellow saying of my minidiscs " Think of the future!" - but anyways as long as I have a minidisc player they are not useless either.

Hear tell, the pro portable audio set loves MD.

yeah actually, they're great for field recordings. also fun in feedback loops. me want.

They are great, but getting an ipod shuffle has made me realize one day I will probably have a bigger ipod hard drive and want my minidisc's content in it.

nine years pass...

forums.sonyinsider.com

I have the same machine, but I can't get the Sony SonicStage to work (and I did have it working before)

There is a page with some discussion regarding Windows 10 and so forth,

http://forums.sonyinsider.com/topic/29205-computer-wont-see-mz-n505/

.. but for some reason I can't register on this forum. Can anybody here? Or has anybody here registered already?

Mark G, Thursday, 21 January 2016 11:37 (ten years ago)

Never mind, I have actually got it working again!
